That's why food prices are shooting up. Take a look at these charts. You'll see what the government's officially reporting versus the actual inflation number (in purple) which is substantially higher. [link to www.shadowstats.com] |

Three weeks ago you could buy one for under $5. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1095428 WTF! here in pa - ground beef jumped from 1.79lb here last june to 2.99 in dec and now....drumroll its 4.99lb political correctness is a doctrine.... fostered by a delusional, illogical minority...... and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media; which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. |

Literally 5 to 7 cents. Now a multi-pack cost upwards of $2.50 depending where you live. I'm eating a lot of ramen noodles as of late. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1064657 I've used Totino's Party Pizzas as my benchmark quite a bit recently... used to be $0.89-$0.99 each within the last year - now they are $1.50+ each. Bacon prices are terrible too. |

I make fruit smoothies out of frozen fruits. It's cheap and no worry about cane or fake sugars. Trying to eat less and stretch the dollars as much as possible. However, there are those days that you have no time and order KFC. We are only human. Have not eaten in a real sit down restaurant in over a year. |

But during a "sale" there was a cooler full of maple leaf (i think) bacon, on "sale" for $3.99, and the label said regular price $7.99. My fiance and i did a double take, and tried to figure out why it would be so pricey regularly. They weren;t double packs, organic, low sodium. Just ordinary packs of bacon. We eventually decided it must have been a typo of some sort, but i am secretly wondering if bacon prices are going to skyrocket. It seems to be how they do it for big jumps. Keep the regular price for a while, but call it the sale price. probably helps to acclimatize people. |

However, there are also some members of the local area who are obviously doing something to make profits; as they are having their homes completely 'refurbished' or 're-designed'... I'd like to knock on one of their doors (when their actually home, as most of these ones I mentioned have homes elsewhere too...), and ask, how on earth have you managed to profit so much in this time of hardship? lol There is Only One Truth |
