Re: Did the Blue Kachina Dance in the Plaza after all? Two people take similar images during Eclipse..
If these are digital images, the blue may be a result of the way the camera's color processor is adjusting for the brightest light. It may be the brightest light in the image is absorbing all the red, yellow and white/green of the light spectrum. So, that leaves the low spectrum being assigned to the less intense light source.

The "kachina" does look like the annular eclipse but I'm not sure what the composition of the image is. Looking at the intensity of the backlight on the pine tree, it seems like that light is closer than the sun although, again, it could be the way the camera is trying to compensate for the absorption of light.

Here's a link to the original series of photos. The only one tampered with in any way is the darker one which I saturated with color to distinguish the eclipse from the blue sphere. The iridescent blue color is precisely what was captured by the camera and is in stark contrast to the surrounding grayness of the sky. As the intervening time between frames was a matter of seconds and as my position did not change, it would appear that the sphere moved rapidly and independent of the camera.

[link to s1147.photobucket.com]

The photos are in the order in which they were taken, so you can have an idea of how it moved through the sky and would sometimes disappear.

I really appreciate the honest and thoughtful interest on this forum. I have no idea what this is, but I cannot accept that it is a lens flare as it is way too 3 dimensional for that.

Are you photographer of these images?

If you are, I appreciate you allowing me to utilize the images to further discuss what you captured.

I feel these images are special.

I am going on intuition here, nothing else.

As to what exactly it is...?

Thank you for keeping you eyes on the skies.

Note:

I have another image coming out with the contrast reduced dramatically. When comparing my images of the eclipse to the way the Sun looked in the images in question is very different.

The Sun it not missing it's bottom right half...at least that is how I saw it in my area.

I will post both images shortly after they are uploaded.

Then why would it not 'adjust' the light of the eclipse to the blue spectrum. If you saturate the image with color you will see that the sun emanates a wide spectrum but the sphere seems only to reflect the blue spectrum.

The object is a reflection of the sun with the moon eclipsing the sun. The reflection is often caused by a filter of some sort (polarizing, etc.), or sometimes it is caused by the camera optics themselves, ie. double lens, protective glass...

Based on the image, it looks like it's a nikon or canon or digital camera that allows you to control the aperture and speed. The reason you cannot see the sun eclipsed by the moon, as you do on the reflection is that there is still too much light produced by the sun and it saturates the ccd.

That the image is blue, might just have to do with the filter used.

Thanks! That helped a lot because we can see the sequence.

The blue orb seems to have an "orbital relationship" to the placement of the primary light source/eclipse. This does not mean the blue orb actually flew around but rather, in the mathematics of the composition, the orb is visually tethered in the relationship. As the composition of the image is changed, we see the orb move in a like-minded way. If the camera had been on a tripod, we would probably see the orb in the same location.

Optically, there may be a few things going on with lens flare and ghost imaging. I've taken pictures of the moon before with digital and "analog" or film-based cameras and light is captured in different ways and the type, quality and cleanliness of lenses can play a huge part in the final image as well.

As for the orb appearing 3D, that's easy. I do that all the time with stage lighting and colored gel and UV black light painting. In general, artists use overlapping charcoal lines to create visual density and form - just think about a basic drawing of a sphere done with a pencil. Light can work in the same way when you overlap beams of light or adjust the focus of the instrument. So, the orb, although, it looks 3D is really an illusion of light and the lens.

Was it the Blue Kachina dancing in the Plaza? Probably not - but we would need images and witnesses from the Hopi Nation for a better answer on that.
It's their tradition. So, the Hopi Elders have to call it. Seriously.

if this was taken during the eclipse then it is the reflection of the sun being covered by the moon. My friend was able to capture the eclipse from the lens flare as the sun was too bright to see it.

Lens flare reflecting the sun being eclipse by the moon!

Not exactly a spiral, but notice the shaft of blue light which appeared a few minutes prior to the remainder of the photos.

Hello 777 and others,

I saw this the same night as the eclipse around 7:30pm. The Sun was lower and in a different location. It looks like a tiny Moon off in the distance. I had to zoom way in to pick up the shape. Our Moon phase (new moon) was totally different. The color is yellow instead of Blue although the shape is similar. Great pics you have.

Peace

Don't know if it's related but a couple of days later these rainbow clouds appeared in the sky within 5 miles of where my pictures were taken.

Corroborating Photos!!!

Someone captured a similar object without the bluish hue. It was taken from a location about 20 miles from where I took the photos on the next ridge over. That would have meant I was closer to the object given the direction of the sun. It does seem to me that the object is a bit smaller in these new photos from Horse Mountain than the one in my photos, giving some support to the idea that it is indeed an object and not a lens flare.

I was driving in to Houston around 5 this morning when I saw a blue light streak across the sky and then vanish. The first thing that crossed my mind was "Blue Kachina" lol. It was only visible for a few seconds - maybe 5 at the most. It wasn't as big as this orb -- but bigger than the clearance lights on a plane. It was as if something was there and turned on the lights by mistake -- turning them off again just as quickly.

I was driving SE and the moon was on my right. About half an hour later as I turned off 290 the Moon was almost in front of me and partially eclipsed -- absolutely beautiful.

Quite a memorable drive to work.

I must have missed this, it's suprising to the the same "lens flare" on different pictures, could be that there are more pictures of the phenomenom out there.

I also have the impression that the Blue Kachina would be something ALL would see, so there was no doubt, but it is hard to say when it comes to prophecies.

anyway, I really like the color it has >:D
