I've seen it hundreds of times. My question was not necessarily if you could possibly detect your contrails but were you really ever interested in or concerned that you were leaving a persistent contrail . . . I'd been watching all those "jets" cruising by and leaving those trails knowing that they were faster, higher and passing me by.
