Anonymous Coward User ID: 1550557 Switzerland 05/22/2012 04:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | much appreciated for the vibes. this is maybe the coolest thread here on glp - in my personal view. just for one love. thank you again for that. i will keep this one alive :-) fi sure. so... my first contribution is FAT FREDDY'S DROP from New Zealand. it's more like a seven-headed soul-dub-monster than strictly reggae music. real instruments and in its core an atari mpc2000 (oldschool drum-/loop-machine). wonderful voice. and still an offbeat. give it a chance and listen some minutes. it's not the usual 3-and-a-half-minutes radiosongs rather than growing frequencies in nearly perfect matching harmonies over an extended period of time. (and these are the other kind of threads and topics i like here on glp) sorry.... after minutes of trying i'm not able to embed the two videos. if some could help in doing that for me. here are the links. follow them... and enjoy :-) [link to www.youtube.com] and a little studio liveset over here [link to www.redbull.co.nz] if you like, check the old stuff from "based on a true story" love with all of you. |

Fishrus on Rastafarianism User ID: 14258113 Canada 05/22/2012 06:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Cool Vibe Context Break: U know why Rastas think Haile Selassie is Jah? Because Jamaica was in the midst of a bad ass drought when the Emperor of Ethiopia's flight landed in Kingston it started raining. I'm not kidding. Haile Selassie was a brutal dictator who murdered many of his own countrymen. But to Rastas he's Jah (God) cus it coincidentally rained when he got to Jamaica. First reggae show I ever saw was Steel Pulse back in 1982 with fake ID. I was into all this stuff before any of you I'm certain. Dub I still like, Herbs are vital to my health, but Jah is BS in my books. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1550557 Switzerland 05/23/2012 02:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Haile Selassie was a brutal dictator who murdered many of his own countrymen. But to Rastas he's Jah (God) Quoting: Fishrus on Rastafarianism 14258113 --- and that's a fact. i'm totally on your side. rastafarism is just another form of religious fundamentalism. And hey, that story isn't 2000 years old. it came upon earth not even hundred years ago. so one have just to check the historical facts. but.... i do not have problems at all with JAH (or God) when it's being and it's power is located in yourself and you call yourself the almighty one. :-) Well..... back to the music again. i want to share with you a nice little concert with all the roots music of reggae. that means rocksteady..... this is about all the songs nearly everybody of you knows and likes.... classic stuff. this concert was featured from a documentary (a swiss procuction) from 2009 and it is called: ROCKSTEADY - The Roots Of Reggae. You'll see many of the old musicians (who are still alive) to replay their personal contribution to the world of music. Watch the movie itself when you can get your fingers on it.... beautiful colors, beautiful music, beautiful people.
