Hmmm.. could the tall spires on skyscrapers possibly be.. lightning rods!? ZOMG, to .. protect the cooling units on the roof?! OMG!? oMG!

HAHAHA. Many buildings have them, not just skyscrapers, they are to protect the fans for HVAC units and other sensitive equipment placed on the roof.

With no sunspots actively flaring, the sun's x-ray output has flatlined. Solar activity is very low, and likely to remain so for the next 24 hours.

Any kind of doom, even the dumbest, is better than no doom.
For a boring day like today, that's quite fine!

The doom scenario is if the 'charged particles' of the cloud induce an electromagnetic filament or transport to develop between the earth and sun, lighting up the earth like the Christmas Tree at 30 Rock, simultaneously causing a multitude of catastrophes to occur.

Or, something to that effect.

Everything you say OP is certainly a possibility, but the timing and extent is anybody's guess. A lot of people like to announce doom on a regular basis, and a lot love to denounce doom every time it is brought up. The truth will fall somewhere between the two.

According to the best authorities we as mindless humans have, our solar system is passing through a plasma cloud that will cause the sun to hyperactivate, which it clearly is doing, and increase the possibility of such an event.

Be patient, the truth will out.
