Newly discovered 2012 KT12 is a small 15-35 meter Apollo class near-Earth asteroid which will fly 0.0037 AU or 1.4 LD to both Earth and Moon on May 23. JPL Orbit: [ link to ssd.jpl.nasa.gov] Condition Code or orbit uncertainty estimate is a 8 on a scale of 0-9, with 0 being good, and 9 being highly uncertain. Was first spotted May 19 but just added to NASA site today, and not yet posted on SpaceWeather list [ link to spaceweather.com] Next known NEO that comes closer than 5 LD is 2012 DA14 but not until Feb 2013 [ link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov] Quoting: TheTruthWorker Wow! It seems to me there are more and more, incoming astroids, that are being found just days before an earth fly-by. Let's hope it remains a fly-by. Quoting: my2centsworth In the next 60 days there is one object less than 5 LD, and that is this one. In the past 60 days there are 21 and 19 were discovered near (and some after) the close approach date. Past 60 days: [ link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]
