Re: Proposed legislation in NY would remove anonymous postings on websites.
see the way the bills are worded

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

its basically a contract, as all bills are... a contract made by others on your behalf.. as you have elected them to do so.

all a website admin in NY has to do is say they dont agree to this contract, as some clever soul on this thread has already said, who probably lives in NY.

by disagreeing to this contact is does not apply.

it may be a democracy when it comes to picking party leaders, but its not a democracy when it comes to rights.

every person who is a member of THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK is so voluntarily and willingly and im not talking about geographical location im talking about being a memeber of a society (which is THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK).

a society is defined as something you mutually agree to belong to, again with no strict relation to geographical location.

if you dont like the bills the society passes just pull the plug, tell them you dont want to be part of it, then no bill's passed by the society apply to yourself.

and you can also leave and join as you wish.

and rememeber the name of the society only resembles the geographic location to fool you into thinking they are one and the same.

hope someone extrapolates this information and benefits in someway from it.

law is the law

Proposed legislation in both chambers would require New York-based websites, such as blogs and newspapers, to "remove any comments posted on his or her website by an anonymous poster unless such anonymous poster agrees to attach his or her name to the post."

Republican Assemblyman Jim Conte said the legislation would cut down on "mean-spirited and baseless political attacks"

Yeah, that'll work just like the requirement to be a Natural Born Citizen to become President....or like the requirement to be alive when casting a vote.

Just the other day both the NYS Assembly and Legislature introduced a bill making it illegal to view child porn under any circumstances. It's expected to pass unanimously. They did this as a result of that Court of Appeals ruling.

I can't imagine anyone will be stupid enough to use their real name. There is a huge choice other than "Anonymous" and one's real name.

after careful reading

i would like to clarify what this bill means.

it does not ban or prevent anonymous postings.

but if the website administrator is based in NY then they will have to remove specific anonymous posts on request from their website.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16534132

and the answer to this problem is just not have the webstie admin living in new york.. problem solved.

..next?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16534132

I'm thinking more that if the ISP provider, which is considered the administrator, is based in NY.. such as cablevision's high speed internet connection... then they would have to delete anonymous posts on request...

So would this be a first step into a Macarthyism Black List...

Would internet users, in NY, be banned from communicating on a NY based internet provider...

I agree with your saying NYC is infested with liberals however like many states, you find the liberals in the larger cities and those inclined to right thinking in the smaller towns that are overrun by the sheer numbers of those in the city. The further away from the urban areas alters ones perception of life for example will the old NY farmer think the same as the NYC woman who shat 12 or more children upon the world then wanting to know who was going to support them.
