... well there is that little historical footnote that his father Obama Sr had been married before he met Dunham, and was in fact still married to wife no. 1 at the time, and so the story goes, neglected to tell her when he married her.

IIRC this was one of the primary reasons he was refused consideration for US citizenship.

But seems to me this, if he was indeed legally married to Dunham, might fall under the previously recorded information.

What would happen with their marriage records (if any, none have been located)? If they weren't married, what legal right would Obama have to the name in the US?

There's always so many questions, and few answers.

If he was adopted legally by his grandparents, and it happens his parents hadn't been legally married, what name would he have been using? If his parents weren't married, then what kind of legalities would be involved for him to use his father's name? I don't think (17 year old at the time) pregnant young ladies can just up and claim anyone's the father, and then name their children after him! Or can they, and then it would require some proof of paternity or something? I dunno.

I do notice that Obama Sr didn't sign.

And, wasn't Obama Jr (let's say) legally adopted (maybe a second time) by his step-father?

The credentials of the US president have to be verified before he takes the oath; any member of the Congress could’ve called objections – nobody did. Once sworn president can be lawfully removed from his office only by the elections or impeachment; read the Article 1 of the US Constitution.

Well for democracy to work, the people have to exercise their voice. Democracy doesn't work if people are apathetic and just don't care what happens to them.

A petition with a statement and some requests would be a good start and then backed up with a peaceful peoples' march / movement / sit-in / sit-down until those who are your public servants respond to your requests as you will.

The "case" starts like any other... When the crime is discovered, or reported.

There still would have been a huge debate if McCain won. Congress can pass anything they want but it doesn't mean it could hold up to the constitutional definition (what definition right?! lol). The definition of "natural born" wasn't established by the Constitution itself but the original intent of the law is the only definition that could withstand a constitutional test. Something SCOTUS hasn't directly answered.
