Yes, in fact, the British citizenship in particular is what the framers of the Constitution wished to prevent from being president--except those alive when the Constitution was signed (Obama wasn't alive when it was signed so not "grandfathered" in). The framers of the Constitution didn't want an agent of the British to become president and undermine the new democracy on behalf of the (enemy) king of England. The framers used the definition of "natural born citizen" that was popular at the time from Vattel's work---and much of the Constitution is borrowed from Vattel. It was a well known and popular work at that time. The definition of a citizen was anyone born in the country. So if 2 British subjects had a baby in America, the baby was a citizen. They could just be visiting though and have no loyalty to the country. The parents weren't "committed" to the US. The definition of a NATURAL BORN citizen (or native) was anyone born in the country to 2 parents who are citizens. The parents may have been born in England but had committed to the US and become citizens. When the baby is born, it is automatically a citizen. And because the parents are citizens as well, the baby has the elevated status of natural born citizen. The loyalty to the US should be in place. Obama can never be a natural born citizen since his father was never a citizen of the US. Worse, his father was a British subject. |

Thus, by prevailing U.S. law, Barack Obama could not have been a “natural born U.S. citizen.” If he was born in Kenya, Mr. Obama's mother was only 18 and could not have lived in the U.S. five years after her 14th birthday at the time of his birth. Thus, it became a political necessity for Barack Obama to have a U.S. birth certificate. A forged birth certificate may have been produced in this case on April 27, 2011 because a genuine one does not exist despite the fact that the President was born in Hawaii or does not exist because he was born overseas. For Barack Obama to have become a U.S. citizen under prevailing U.S. law at the time of his birth in 1961, his mother would have had to petition a U.S. immigration court for a naturalized U.S. citizenship status, which would have been readily granted to him because he was born of an American mother. Ironically, in 1986, this U.S. immigration and naturalization law was changed to grant John McCain “natural born” status despite his having been born in the U.S. Panama Canal Zone.
