To those who don't smoke weed, yet fight against it
What's the point?

Please explain it to me.

Why do you care what other people do? Why can't you just be okay with not smoking weed? Weed smokers aren't really trying to recruit anybody, or bash the nonsmokers. We just wanna smoke and get high.

But for some reason, there's a large collection of people who make the personal choice to NOT smoke, but also need to make sure NOBODY ELSE smokes either.

WhY?!

WHO CARES? Why do you care? It doesn't effect you at all if your neighbor is getting high in the privacy of his own home. He's not hurting you or anybody or affecting your life AT ALL.

So what's the deal with all these anti-weed protesters who need to stop the whole thing?

Are they deluded?

Are they seeking validation for their own choices?

Are they conditioned into believing they must stop it, that its evil?

WHY?

It seems kinda......pathetic.

I don't watch any of those fucking Twilight movies, but I don't go out of my way to make sure people who enjoy them can't watch them.

I don't like squash, but I'm not trying to make squash illegal for people who enjoy it.

I don't get it.

I really don't.

Why do you even care? Why are you so obsessed with other's lifestyles? WHY?

I think ya'll need to smoke a joint and calm the fuck down because it doesn't really matter.

And why would you try to restrict something you've never tried? How could you ever possibly know first hand what it's like? Seriously? How could you ever form an opinion on something you have ZERO experience with? What, because you read some information on it on the internet or in the newspaper?

It's no different than forming an opinion on a film you haven't seen and trying to get it banned, even though you've never really experienced that film first hand.

Its stupid!

And most people I know who didn't smoke for a long time, and finally tried weed, were like:

"REALLY?! REAALY?! This is what all the fuss is about?! People are trying to make THIS illegal? Its not a big deal at all!"

Be real man! I say do your own thing and let others do their own thing. We can't keep trying to restrict others and keep trying to NERF the world. THATS WHY EVERYTHINGS SO FUCKED UP RIGHT NOW. Because we're trying to put rubber safety pads on all the edges and corners. Letting people sue because they spilt hot coffee. Letting people think that the government knows whats best for a person.

The government shouldn't have a say in what people can or cannot enter into their own bodilly systems. People should inform themselves and learn the consequences. We can't keep preparing and rearranging the world for THE STUPID. That's exactly what we're doing and it's clearly creating a fucking retarded culture.

Wake the fuck up and worry about yourselves and your own choices and let others worry about theirs. If you don't smoke weed, that's fucking fine, but get your head out of your ass and stop trying to prevent others from doing it because that's fucking stupid and goes completely against the foundation of FREEDOM that we supposedly built this country on.

I don't smoke it, never will, but I believe it shouldn't be illegal because it is a healthy and helpful thing.

The elite know that, which is why it is illegal, the other reason is to keep the price of it very high to make more markup from the war on drugs when they sell them back to the Mexican cartels.

Its the same as when alchohol was under prohibition. Abunch of sheeple were totally against it until the authorities said it was ok. The same would happen with weed if became legal, all the naysayers would suddenly evaporate. Alot of people call the whole bullshit gateway drug thing, but alchohol and cigarettes are more gateway drugs than weed is. People are just stupid I guess.

I always assumed that drug dealers of marijuana are the primary opposition to legalizing the drug.

if it were legal, they wouldn't make as much money.

legalization would collapse the price to about where tobacco is, i'd imagine, but the number of smokers wouldn't increase.

an amount of high quality marijuana that could easily be held between the thumb and forefinger costs about $20.

imagine if it were legal.

the same amount would be worth about a nickel and a few pennies.

it should be obvious why its illegal and who is fighting to keep it that way.

No it doesn't make sense. It's fucking ignorant! It's the definition of ignorance. Making claims about something that you have ZERO first hand experience of and don't truly know about it!

I'm saying the person who doesn't smoke shouldn't be out there trying to restrict thosee who do.

If a person tried weed, experienced it, and then decided it was evil and bad, and wanted to ban it, this would be a slightly different story because this person actually tried it. But the biggest complaints you'll get out of people who tried weed and didn't like it are:

"I got paranoid/panic attacks."

"I got lazy."

"I ate too much food when I got the munchies and got fat."

Those are the biggest reasons why people quit smoking weed or decide they don't want to after they try it.

People who have never smoked weed, have no idea what it's about, but yet crusade for it to be taken away are fucking ignorant. MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS.

You do your thing. I'll do mine.

And don't speak about things you have no knowledge or experience of, especially when you are crusading to keep said things illegal.

Not going to lie, smoking marijuana is a pleasure and I don't want that privilege completely stripped from me, but being high makes you perplexingly stupid.

Fellow weed smokers, you may argue that you know someone or have a friend who does well in school/life and is also your average marijuana smoker but there will always be exceptions to the rule. Your generic weed smoker does NOT do well in school/life, watches childish cartoons while downing that double portion meal while high, daily, and is just interested in lesser musings.

If it were legalized, efficiency of your average worker would decline and the presence of obesity would fucking skyrocket.
I'm totally against legalizing it.

OP, instead of asking why people must meddle with the plant, why the hell do YOU care? It's not like you have to cross trench warfare to obtain it.
Essentially, they do not affect your ability to possess marijuana so why the hell do YOU care what other people think.

Gonna have to disagree here. Just because it's legal doesn't mean everyone will start smoking it just because they can. Plus it would be regarded the same way as alchohol, e.g. you must be legal age, no smoking in public except designated areas, no working under the influence or driving ect. I'm sure they could develope some kind of test to see if you're high at the moment, so companies can ensure their workers aren't high at work, so on and so forth, in fact they probably already have it.

Oh, okay. so that means if the United States randomly decides to go under prohibition once more, you mean to tell me that not much would change? You mean that the number of deaths due to alcohol would probably remain the same?
Just because you're able to bureaucratically enforce something doesn't mean it would be the same as if it were illegal.
Listen, if you make an intoxicating substance legal, statistically, get ready for some huge changes. Especially if the harm in doing it is less than that of consuming alcohol.

never have smoked it and too old to start picking up new habits. having said that, making this plant illegal is stupid. keeping it illegal is criminal.

that's my opinion. but..... in the 1970's i was stuck being around pot smokers through a job situation. i didn't care that they smoked it, but they were all kinda paranoid cause i didn't. they wound up making a huge stink to get me run off before i snitched on them. stupid really, i wouldn't have snitched - i didn't care. just didn't want to use it myself.

FFS, the Netherlands have less Pot Smokers on a percentage basis of number of citizens than Germany for example where you can find no Coffeeshops at all but get several hundred Euro fines in Bavaria for example for 0.5 gramms of Weed, explain this.

The damn repetition of old and worn out non-arguments, or better said stupid gibberish makes me want to scream in anger.

And are the Dutchmen less productive ?? Fucking no...

 Quoting: scrubskillet

You bring up some very valid points, although I have to respectfully disagree.

Weed, like all substances, effects everyone different when introduced to their system.

I have friends who smoke weed everyday and remain productive, have good jobs, finished school with good marks and are doing well for themselves.

I also have friends who smoked weed in college, because lazy, unproductive, unmotivated and failed out of their classes.

I tend to do alright, although I balance it well. I know that when I smoke too much, I get lazy. I get the things I need to get done first because I know I can't get high and expect to do them later. So I do them first and reward myself with some nice, relaxing, bong hits.

Except on creative endeavors. When I smoke weed, I get so insanely creative. I often find myself writing at lengths. I went to film school so I outline and write film scripts when I'm high. I also play a variety of instruments. Playing instruments when stoned, especially with other people, is amazing. I get so creative and experimental when I play stoned. I come up with new things, practice new techniques. When I play music stoned with other people...it's indescribable. There's a reason why pot and other pschedelics are so popular with musicians.

So for me, I get super productive with more creative activities, but super lazy with other things. So I do the things I need to do, then smoke and enjoy myself.

Some people I know don't do anything. And just get stoned all day long. Some people get stoned before EVERYTHING they do and they do it fine. Some people can't even be in public when they're stoned

It effects everyone differently. That's the point. Nothing's ever strictly in black and white, so we can't speak in absolutes and say weed would turn the entire country in lazy lathargic, fat potheads.

I know people who work at Intel who get stoned.

I care because it does effect me. It does effect my ability to find it. Things constantly change. People get older. The number of people you are able to get weed from changes. It's awesome to have a solid connect, but they don't always last. It's not super easy to get it. And it's a plant. It's nature. I SHOULD be able to walk to the store and buy some because ITS ABSOLUTELY INSANE TO MAKE NATURE ILLEGAL.

I have friends who have been busted for having feed and had to go to court to pay fines, in some cases lawyers were needed to prevent jailtime. All of this is expensive and goes on their record, later effecting things like getting employed.

If you grow the plant, you are facing federal charges. FEDERAL CHARGES. OVER A PLANT. A plant that naturally grows in NATURE, which is the only thing we truly have.

And that fear of getting busted over a plant shouldn't be there. There's no sense in it being illegal. It should be easy to obtain. And the people who don't want to smoke it....can just not smoke it.

But as of now, a percentage of the people who don't want to smoke it go out of their way to try and restrict it from those of us that do. They make it harder.....and why? Honestly why? That's what my post was about. WHY? It doesn't make any sense to me, because I couldn't care less what somebody else choses to do, as long as it doesn't hurt anybody.

And the standard response is probably "Well it's your fault that you're afraid of getting busted, or you are getting busted or have been, because you are chosing to break a law."

That's true. But it's a silly law that makes no sense. Change isn't going to come from the populace just accepting unfair, intrusive, unjust laws. Freedom doesn't come in the form of silly restrictions. If you care about freedom, its your duty to question the laws that don't make sense to you. It's your duty to not follow them, stand up in the name of freedom. Unless you want to be a push-over and let the ever-growing governing body get fatter and fatter, while we continue to lose our rights and freedom.

It essentially makes us have to face the question:

"What is the governments TRUE role?"

I personally don't believe it's the governments role to tell us what we can or cannot introduce into our own bodily systems. If we aren't trusted to be smart enough to think for ourselves, and way the consequences of our decisions on our own, then we'll continue to go into an apathetic, fat, asleep, zombie race that we're becoming. So for that reason alone, weed should be legalized. All drugs should be legalized, in my opinion.

Is it the governments right to make natural illegal? This earth...doesn't belong to anyone. It's all of ours. Its the only thing that's real. Our society is all based on ideas that some people thought up a long time ago. But nature is real...and it's precious. And nobody has the right to make it illegal for anybody else. We are giving the government the power to do so by following stupid laws like this, like sheep, without thinking about what they really mean.

I don't want to support that type of power in the government, I'm not sure about you.

And I really want to be able to go and buy a pack of joints at the mini-mart whenever I want to get stoned. And these people are preventing that from being a reality, and there's no sense at all behind why.

What about those that smoke weed and fight against it ???
 Quoting: mikebo2

I assume they must be higher-up in the weed industry. Most big names in weed growing and distribution don't want it to be legal because they won't make the same insane amount of cash once it's commercialized.

Re: To those who don't smoke weed, yet fight against it
we have all been scammed by the establishment:

according to the fact it cures cancer along with many other ailments, fighting against weed may make people accomplice to manslaughter, even 1st degree murder.

contrary to popular belief, weed/hemp is completely non-toxic

also, if farmed with modern technology, hemp produces enough food, oil and fibers to make our currently closed economy wide open..

hemp will set us free, literally. no inhaling required.
