You have no link, and the article you posted is from February? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1445528 WTF?? I'm sorry. No, I do not have a link and I said so. I was not referring to an article. I am referring to an email that was received by the people that work at the Academy for the FAA in OKC. I am one of those people. Well, I guess we will have to take your word for it. That said, nothing would surprise me, and if it's true, it's bizarre! Let's pray it is just a drill! I don't blame you for questioning. You should. I know I do. |
mikebo2 (OP) User ID: 4907712 United States 05/23/2012 10:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are saying that I and the rest of the people at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City did not receive an email about this? I, nor anyone else has claimed that there is going to be a meteor strike. I said there was an emergency preparedness drill for May 24 that included Oklahoma and Texas. The scenario was: NASA warns us that there is a possibility of a meteor strike in the Oklahoma/Texas area. I love BS flags when it is called for. This is not BS. |

I clicked a link and read a few of those sightings. one was about an orb of blue light that blew up in the sky and then 3-4 orange orbs came out of the same area as the blue blast and then faded slow away in the night sky. cant remember the link... maybe ufosightingsovertexas? something like that. Maybe those arent UFOs but small rock blowing up. |

I am relaying info I received in an email from the government about an emergency preparedness drill for Oklahoma and Texas and the scenario was a warning from NASA about a meteor strike in these areas. At no time have I ever claimed this was going to happen. Again... I find it odd ( I have never received an email at work like this before) that they chose the scenario of a meteor strike. |

I understand the email was for yet but for a drill. And i understand u have not stated there will be an imminent meteor to hit. This is not normal tho, i have never heard of a meteor drill, period. Any half intelligent person would read between the lines and realize we are being prepared for an upcoming event, which in my eyes is far from the norm. We both know if this truelly was released, then worldwide we need to acknowledge nasa has info of an imminent meteor strike, Oklahoma and texas are yet but two of the states who have taken upon themself to inform the people. Do u u.derstand where im coming from now? ~the secret to life is to AwakeN before death~(realizing there is no death)~ ~How would you approach life if you knew your every thought/emotion dictated every aspect of your projected physical reality?~ |

A New Count of Potentially Hazardous Asteroids May 16, 1012 Excerpt: The asteroid-hunting portion of the WISE mission, called NEOWISE, sampled 107 Potentially Hazardous Asteroids (PHAs) to make predictions about the population as a whole. Findings indicate there are roughly 4,700 PHAs, plus or minus 1,500, with diameters larger than 330 feet (about 100 meters). So far, an estimated 20 to 30 percent of these objects have been found. The new analysis suggests that about twice as many PHAs as previously thought reside in low-inclination orbits, which are roughly aligned with the plane of Earth's orbit. "Our team was surprised to find the overabundance of low-inclination PHAs," said Amy Mainzer, NEOWISE principal investigator, at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The lower-inclination PHAs appear to be somewhat brighter and smaller than other near-Earth asteroids. They are [also] more likely to be either stony, like granite, or metallic. The composition of the bodies affect how quickly they might burn up in our atmosphere if an encounter were to take place. [link to science.nasa.gov] Last Edited by Biochemky on 05/24/2012 01:08 AM |

Biochemky User ID: 919411 United States 05/24/2012 01:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There was also a meteor in early February of this year that was seen crossing the night sky over the region between San Antonio, Texas to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Fireball in Texas sky was meteor, FAA says Feb. 1, 2012 WFAA received more than 200 reports Wednesday night from people who said they saw what appeared to be a meteor streaking across the North Texas sky shortly after 8 o'clock. Many people also said they heard what sounded like a sonic boom (or booms) associated with the fireball, which was apparently witnessed all the way from San Antonio to Oklahoma City. The Federal Aviation Administration told TV station KWTX in Waco that it was a meteor. [There are some interesting eye witness accounts given in the article too] [link to www.wfaa.com] Here is a video of the meteor itself that was taken by a camera in Hawley, TX that is designed to record the night sky. (The video shows a bright object briefly streaking across the image of the earth that is seen). The direct link to the video is as follows: [link to www.youtube.com] The video can also be viewed by going to the article linked above. |
