Yes, each Child must be able to move it his/her own pace. It's not about who is in the class, it's about the level of work they are doing.

I would say half of dropouts are too advanced for the work that is handed to them, and they need to make money while they learn.

FYI a High School Dropout costs the State $265k, on average over his/her lifetime.

If we paid each child $5 per day to attend school and $20 per A, $15 per B, $10 per C $5 per D and $0 per F, and the child made straight A's in 6 classes 5 semesters for 14 years with 200 school days per year.

The total cost to the State would be?

$22,400 for perfect attendance head start-high school and a 4.0 GPA.

We have thrown money at this trouble everywhere but the place it needs to go, wealth begets wealthy, and poverty begets poverty.

How can any teach a Child to manage money, if the Child has no money to manage?

How can any teach a Child work ethic, if the Child has no Work?

We will spend x10 $22,400 to keep this Child in Jail or on Welfare when they are older, it is penny wise and pound foolish.

I am only high school educated, but have a very high IQ. I am always doing something with my mind, and always asking questions. Dont stop asking questions. The more you ask, the more lies "they" have to come up with, and eventually, they will get caught out.

Kids dont ask, they just get angry and then violent.

Throwing money at the problem IS the PROBLEM! What are the children taught from day one in this nation? THE LOVE OF MONEY and how to manage it in order to satisfy their "passions"! There are all kinds of creative expression available and students engage them.

People stuck on cursive are a part of the dumbing down of America. They get confused with "what was done in the past" as "what must be done for a good education." Not everything done in the past is needed today. Cursive is not needed. It's rather silly, in all actuality.

I graduated from high school in 1979. I took 2 years of physics, chemistry, 3 years of computer programming, 3 years of electronics, calculus, and to many english classes(I hate english!).

After becoming disabled after repairing electronics for 27 years (I went straight into from high school) I went back to college for a degree in computer information systems. This was in 2008 and I was shocked by the lack of writing skills, lack of math skills, and in general lack of communication skills.

These were college student who couldn't write a simple paper for a class. We would have to critique papers and mine were rarely corrected but the stuff I had to read made me cringe. Same for math skills. Simple algebra was beyond many of the students and this was in statistics classes, pre-calculus etc.

I experienced the lack of communications skills first hand in online discussion groups. Student who couldn't write well enough to get simple ideas across to others. Complex topics were beyond them and I got frequent complaints that what I brought up was to advanced.

The US is headed for third world status. We lack skilled workers in way to many fields. We even lack skilled workers in blue collar technical fields like electronic repair. There are some public schools that are exceptions. In the small town I live in the school is a charter school and they focus on the basics. Students come from several counties around and my town has a population of 280.

Does this mean the kids will only be able to understand Gregorian chants and Native American music? I wonder what our future generation will consider "popular music"?

Money, in and of itself is not the trouble. Materialism, yes that is a valid point.

However we do have material needs in this world, and we require a merit based system to dependence with material goods.

God Almighty did not leave us with perfect world, a little bit of greed can be a good thing.

As it is now we are not teaching our young that work equals reward, we are teaching them to work for free. We are teaching them that they must be forced by the State to go to a place and do free work.

We have a name for that in the Adult World, it is called Slavery, and the 13th Amendment forbids it. except as punishment for a crime.

Yep my husband went back to school for his Business Marketing diploma (he was already a Construction Engineer) about 2004-2006 and was shocked SHOCKED at how shallow the skills and perceptions of the students were compared to his more mature mind. Same as what you mention above. Bad grammar, illiterate, brainwashed, spoiled, clueless to reality. Really really sad and scary. Meanwhile my little guy is expected to know how to read in Junior Kindergarten.
