Excellent video. Thanks OP.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Definitely same in the UK.

I'm 26, and returned to University last year. The students around me are stupid beyond belief. I ace every assignment with ease (between 65 and 75 on all, 70 is "max" unless amazing), and then hear my classmates discussing about how hard it was.

You make a lot of sense and I agree, but there is no need to put low IQ humans who are more workers with higher IQ creators in the same class. The facts are we all have different skills, IQ's, blood and missions in life. This one size fits all slaves is about as dumb of a school system there has EVER been.

Us humans with souls and creative abilities DO NOT need to sit in the same classrooms as the worker bees. But that does NOT mean I do not love the worker bees or think they should be extinct, I AM just sick of being stung because they are jealous or cannot think themselves out of a wet paper sack....
 Quoting: KnightsTemplar.TV

Yes, each Child must be able to move it his/her own pace. It's not about who is in the class, it's about the level of work they are doing.

I would say half of dropouts are too advanced for the work that is handed to them, and they need to make money while they learn.

FYI a High School Dropout costs the State $265k, on average over his/her lifetime.

If we paid each child $5 per day to attend school and $20 per A, $15 per B, $10 per C $5 per D and $0 per F, and the child made straight A's in 6 classes 5 semesters for 14 years with 200 school days per year.

The total cost to the State would be?

$22,400 for perfect attendance head start-high school and a 4.0 GPA.

We have thrown money at this trouble everywhere but the place it needs to go, wealth begets wealthy, and poverty begets poverty.

How can any teach a Child to manage money, if the Child has no money to manage?

How can any teach a Child work ethic, if the Child has no Work?

We will spend x10 $22,400 to keep this Child in Jail or on Welfare when they are older, it is penny wise and pound foolish.

Are you having a fit over this thread or just having a mental breakdown in general?
 Quoting: Doomalicious

Why does it have to be about this thread being pinned? It is more what kinds of threads get pinned on here. Stupid threads, repeating the stupidity which had been pinned the day before until it was debunked in the thread so a new pinned version has to be made. That's an attempt by those with karma to dumb down GLP. That's just an example.

As for this thread, it is an overly-simplistic presentation. While it is true that kids are not trained in Greek, Latin, mathematics and subjects like them as they were in the past, kids are trained more in the sciences than ever before (just an example of where we know more than the past and are trained with more). In other words, some things are not taught as much, agreed, other things are taught more, agreed. It's not about "dumbing down" America, but about different needs different times.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16599982

The thing is we NEED to go back to basics....

Reading, writing, and Arithmetic....

When I was in college, getting an engineering degree, and learning Calculus and had problems....

My mom had taken Calc back in high school and could solve the problems....

So the different needs and different times are BS....

Our schools are going backwards not forwards in education...
 Quoting: HisEyesRopen

Taint no "going back"! The damage is done! The sins of the fathers are being brought to reality by their children! Societal collapse is the end result! Look around! The Lord God's Laws are NOT upheld in this nation! Every form of licenteousness is practiced in this nation in the name of FREEDOM! You think this is progress? You think that this will end well? You're blind and deaf if you do!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16535332

I totally agree with you where everything is headed....

The thing is, its not too late if people wake up....

Things have to turn around and it has to start somewhere...

Maybe it will be WW3, or and EMP blast sending us back to the 1800s, or a civil war....

But eventually there will be a reset point...

Re: THE DELIBERATE 'DUMBING' DOWN OF AMERICA (VIDEO WITHIN)
One needs to look no further than the proudly proclaimed 'father of the modern American education system', John Dewey (yes, he of Dewey Decimal System fame).

The main tenet of his belief system was to 'bring the mountain down to Mohammed'. Concentrating all resources on those students who couldn't keep up, the more abled students are to be systematically ignored, if not flat-out beaten down.

For about 100 years, this mindset has been the backbone of the education system, and it's been a remarkable 'success'. You've seen the results; hell, you've suffered from them your whole life.

By the way, John Dewey was a flaming communist, who wanted nothing more than to destroy the American way of life and usher in a Marxist utopia.

Why would you put different level humans whether that be their soul or intelligence and make them "conform" to the majority? All that does is make factory workers and people who cannot create on their own or refuse to because they do not fit in with the majority.

Your money idea works because I do it with my 14 year old who went from a 2.5 GPA to 3.5 GPA in one semester. He gets $20 per A and $10 per B. He will make a couple hundred dollars in a week or so when we get his report card.

This is the ONLY way that I have found that you can get someone in our family with our independent FREE blood/DNA to submit to the lame authority of public schools. We have to pay them for their pain.....

true mind can't be dumbed down. It may seem sleepy but it never stops looking for the next challenge. If you truly think this gov't dumbed you down, you fell for it.
 Quoting: Doomalicious

True.

I am only high school educated, but have a very high IQ. I am always doing something with my mind, and always asking questions. Dont stop asking questions. The more you ask, the more lies "they" have to come up with, and eventually, they will get caught out.

Kids dont ask, they just get angry and then violent.
 Quoting: Scuba7

But we're not talking about intelligence are we? We're talking about getting an education, for which the gov't has a basic duty to provide. Minds and thinking have to be grown and inspired. Intelligence will increase the better the information gets across to the child and the more engaged they are. When you don't correct spelling or teach kids to use math properly, you're arming that kid with the knowledge that they can't effectively express themselves and they can't rely on that basic library of information. They're aware of their deficiencies. How's that for self esteem? This in it's basic design sets kids up for failure. Couple with the fact that many are dealing with the kind of school stresses, family upheaval and physical conditions/afflictions on a scale that would be unimaginable in the 1900s, plus the widespread and constant exposure to toxins in all aspects of our lives, well, I couldn't think of a better way to encourage a dysfunctional society.

Money, in and of itself is not the trouble. Materialism, yes that is a valid point.

However we do have material needs in this world, and we require a merit based system to dependence with material goods.

God Almighty did not leave us with perfect world, a little bit of greed can be a good thing.

As it is now we are not teaching our young that work equals reward, we are teaching them to work for free. We are teaching them that they must be forced by the State to go to a place and do free work.

We have a name for that in the Adult World, it is called Slavery, and the 13th Amendment forbids it. except as punishment for a crime.

What crime have our young committed that we have enslaved them so?

The founders of this nation, the FM's, and as confirmed by Albert Pike in his famous letter written in 1887, planned a time that they would cause "nihilists and atheists" to take over! A "nihilist" believes in the doctrine that society has gotten so bad that the only way to solve the problems is the destruction of that society, using various schemes of "revolutionary reform", including promoting "anarchism", "terrorism", and "assination"! Ring a bell? An "atheist" is one who denies the existence of a GOD, a supreme intelligent being. In essence, they are a "godless" person, one who lives as if there is no GOD. There are literally thousands and thousands, perhaps millions of young people today in this nation who fit this description! Many are on GLP! They also said they would provoke a "social cataclysm" that in all its "horror" would show the nations the effects of "absolute atheism", and the "origin of savagery", and cause a "most bloody turmoil"! Look around you at this nation, and this world, and tell me what you see and hear happening! You think they're just playing a "game"? They fully intend on establishing on this earth, in our lifetimes, the "doctrine of Lucifer", and in doing so they will do everything in their power to destroy both Christianity and atheists!

There are all kinds of creative expression available and students engage them.

People stuck on cursive are a part of the dumbing down of America. They get confused with "what was done in the past" as "what must be done for a good education." Not everything done in the past is needed today. Cursive is not needed. It's rather silly, in all actuality.

Re: THE DELIBERATE 'DUMBING' DOWN OF AMERICA (VIDEO WITHIN)
I graduated from high school in 1979. I took 2 years of physics, chemistry, 3 years of computer programming, 3 years of electronics, calculus, and to many english classes(I hate english!).

After becoming disabled after repairing electronics for 27 years (I went straight into from high school) I went back to college for a degree in computer information systems. This was in 2008 and I was shocked by the lack of writing skills, lack of math skills, and in general lack of communication skills.

These were college student who couldn't write a simple paper for a class. We would have to critique papers and mine were rarely corrected but the stuff I had to read made me cringe. Same for math skills. Simple algebra was beyond many of the students and this was in statistics classes, pre-calculus etc.

I experienced the lack of communications skills first hand in online discussion groups. Student who couldn't write well enough to get simple ideas across to others. Complex topics were beyond them and I got frequent complaints that what I brought up was to advanced.

The US is headed for third world status. We lack skilled workers in way to many fields. We even lack skilled workers in blue collar technical fields like electronic repair. There are some public schools that are exceptions. In the small town I live in the school is a charter school and they focus on the basics. Students come from several counties around and my town has a population of 280.
 Quoting: MaryAlananB

Yep my husband went back to school for his Business Marketing diploma (he was already a Construction Engineer) about 2004-2006 and was shocked SHOCKED at how shallow the skills and perceptions of the students were compared to his more mature mind. Same as what you mention above. Bad grammar, illiterate, brainwashed, spoiled, clueless to reality. Really really sad and scary. Meanwhile my little guy is expected to know how to read in Junior Kindergarten.
I just don't get it. :dunno:

Example: The diatonic system of notation is too complicated for middle school kids. So they teach, read and compose music from a pentatonic scale.

I just don't get it. dunno

I actually believe they have started the change on education with the Kindergarteners etc. I see it at my sons school where they are starting to push the kids and be more flexible with them. It is not perfect, but I do see a change from my older son's education to my sons 5 and 14 now who are in school.

TPTB appear to be starting this change slowly with the government schools, but there is a lot of work to do by all of us. There is hope on the horizon.
Regards,

Moe

Yup. I'm in college. Sometimes I feel for the older people in my classes who have to deal with the illiterates of my generation and the nonsensical discussions we have in class ever so frequently...
