Really? A welding fire? Those fucking subs are made completely of steel. There isn't anything to catch fire. So exactly what, I ask, was there to spread this fire?

Really. Welding work. Berthing not steel, as I know. Combat Systems Electionic Space -made main from plastic.

Hull submarines is steel, but inside many plastic and other fire material.

Whatever sheep. I have welded on several occasions and have never worried about starting a fire on a piece of plastic. The only things that can readily start a fire are dried out vegetation, combustibles like fuels or solvents that are uncovered, etc. This story smells like bullshit to me.

The welding supplies themselves can sustain fires. If an OXY acetelene rig gets its hoses cut, it is virtually impossible to put that fire out, you have to shut off the valves or let it run out of oxygen and fuel. In a cramped space the operator is going to evac before doing this. too much smoke. by the time the firefighters get there the whole situation is too hot to handle, so they gotta do the total loss options. drown it, foam it. And the people saying this was the russians are wrong. It was the canadians.
