You are without a doubt a fucking moron. Do you really think that the welder was some fat, greasy slob that works for Bob's Welding Shop in downtown Pittsburg or something? The welders on a sub are also US Navy Sailors that were trained to be welders.

There are flammable materials on a submarine. That's why the crew are trained in fire fighting. And no, the Russians did not do this. It was probably an accident.

Why would you support the canadians? they are the ones who did this. There are many ways to weld. you might be thinking of stick welding (electrical arc). Now adays there are lots of fuel based approaches. MIG/TIG. Plasma and OXY torches. Grinding wheels create lots of sparks. Job sites bring lots of combustables with them. trashbags burnnch bags burn like paper. Oily paper towels used to clean surfaces and discarded about 'till the clean up time. I'll bet they find headgear from an canukistani involved as well. This is a cramped space with very high tempature tools being used. and as soon as there is a fire, the worker is going to run. I have literally caught DIRT on fire before. Because it was not an enclosed space I just stomped it out. The worker here ran.
