A bit yes. Through my post we found out Sloane, Jasper and me are all military brats and thought that was an amazing thing... I was wondering about you guys.

Put in brats in the search you should get it it's called calling brats of all shapes and you will see what it's about... it is really about 3rd culture kids.

I think I am somewhat similar, when I came to Oz at 9 years old I could only count to ten in English, and have never been completely 'at home' anywhere

And Friend, I've noticed that about Who as well.

Who is the Godfather, the Patroni puppeteer pulling the strings of his clueless, but ruthless, assassins while drinking scotch from the cupped breasts of a busty princess in exile somewhere near Athens. International mystery and intrigue aside, who is Who? A descendent of Dr. Jekyll, or a modern day Dr. Wu? That mysterious Who.

Who keeps pulling our strings and we kill threads at his command. We love and loathe what he's done to us. No victims (except the threads), only volunteers among the killer elite. Mechanics. We tune threads up and shut them down with the tools of our choosing. Or not.

Not a brat, Friend, but I did my bid in Uncle Sam's service. No regrets and I'm glad I served.

My two oldest sons 18 and 20 just joined the Air Force and the Marines respectfully... with everything going on... with the way our forces are being run... with the suicide rate higher than the combat rate... with several tours of duty... Should I be as worried as I am?

Ah, I see the funny guy is following me to our quiet little corner at land's end. As I'd treat a disease-ridden maggot, I'll not sully this clean, well-lighted place with the stuff of dung and will take my pest control elsewhere. No matter the thread, It's so easy to swat this whiny pissant away.

Friend, regarding your sons, if your demeanor here is indicative of the mother you are I'm certain your two sons are good and honorable young men and will be fine. You've gotten all your commercials in by now and the best you can do now is simply love them and trust they'll do the next right thing as best they can. Easier in the saying than the doing, but that's about all the control you have. Just have to trust all will be well.

I was a kid when I went in (17) and the night before I left for bootcamp my family had a party and all my uncles and cousins that served before me (from WWII to Vietnam) had words of wisdom and humor. Among many things, I was told to keep my head down, to keep clear of and never side-up to officers, and when stateside to salute anything that moved and paint everything else that didn't. For the most part, I was given sound advice, but much of it was outdated and based on their experiences. Much of it didn't apply to my time and experiences in the service. The same can be said for your sons. Each time period served is different.

I believe mothers have worried about their sons in service from the beginning of time. My mother has always been a tough cookie, but I knew she was concerned when I went in. That she had to sign for me because of my age added to her angst. And while she never said anything, I knew she worried. It seems the same for you. I guess all you can do is love you sons and trust they'll do ok.

I know you're proud of your sons and I wish them both God speed and great good things.

You're a good egg, Friend, and it's nice to be coming to get to know you. Bet to you and your family.
