So is this thread a game to see who will post last? Cos it pretty much seems that way.

We try to end this thread and we end other threads and post our kills. A thread kill is 24 hours. Please feel free to join us.

Other than that we have no agendas and talk about everything. :D

Fear-mongers shouting, "No one gets out alive."
Florida is prepping for a terrible state of seige
Shouting, "Rather die on my feet than live on my knees."

My telephone is ringing Chinese delivery man
He's not certain if I ordered the Moo goo gui pan
He's never seen Florida he hustles to the bone
He wouldn't know EBT from an Obama phone

People screaming race war is coming really quick
I wonder which color side our God will finally pick
If I were him I know I'd mourn such a sad waste of a son
On a vile and hateful creation that remains forever dumb

Re: Are you a thread killer?
Hoping to kill the "creepiest stories" thread with this one:

I grew-up in an Irish enclave in the Bronx and there were a lot of boozers. I lost a lot of friends to booze and drugs over the years and you get a thick skin to protect your heart over the losses.

Five years ago, my best friend Sully packed it in from the booze. He drank two quarts of Bacardi rum a day for about 15 years, but still maintained a job, a home and paid his bills. We used to break his shoes about him being a rum drinker - "What fucking Irishman drinks rum?" etc. - and he'd always smile a loopy smile and say, "I drink the booze with the bats on the label because it keeps the bats at bay."

About a year before he died, we were alone and I implored him to slow down or cut the booze completely because it was clearly killing him. He gave me the same loopy smile and said, Ah, Mac, I won't stop until I'm dead as there really are bats flying in my head. The only way to stop their wings is to drink the rum with the bats on the label. The Bacardi for the batkeeper. I know you think I'm a daft, a misguided madman, but I'm telling you it's true. I know what I'm doing, but I thank you for the friendship."

A year later, in December, he died of a heart attack at the age of 43. He was a good and kind man and I missed him much. The following May I was in my house alone - my wife and kids had gone over to my parents - listening to music and I had opened all the windows (but kept the screens closed) to wash away the winter with some Spring evening air. It was raining a soft rain and I remember turning down the music to better hear the rain. After about ten minutes, something swooshed through the lving room. There was a moment I thought I must have dozed-off as it didn't seem quite real. A minute later another swoosh. And again and again until I finally realized it was a fucking bat. A bat! I hadn't seen a bat in the Bronx since I was a kid. I smiled and knew it was a gift. I opened all the windows and, after about forty minutes, the bat found its way out.

Fare Thee Well, my brother. To bats in the belfry and those from worlds unseen. When I raise a glass you're always noted, Sully, and I pray you peace until I see you on the other side.

Koolio, would that I could be so self-deluded. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I've read enough good to great writers to know mine is, at best, the shit of an average man with average thoughts. So I don't dupe myself into thining anything else.

Now dancing, that's quite another thing. Had I not been hit with that rusty harpoon in me thigh years ago, I would have put Gene Kelly and Astaire to blush.

Hoping this, as always, finds you well and happy, dear Koolio.

Well, as another poet once said "ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?"

My one regret - I could've been a great dancer I'm sure, if only I'd gone to lessons ;)

I really do hope we get to meet up next year Mac, religious arguments (err, discussions) politics maybe, sex debate even, all the taboo subjects plus dancing!

Woohoo!

Me too, Koolio. I really want to meet you. For the discussions, pushing our minds and hearts to new horizons, and, without a doubt, dancing.

My honor, sister. You're aces in my book, Kool, on many, many levels.

Between you, Friend D, Sloaney, Brother Jasper, DB, and all others on the mad hatters tour, I'm certain tales would be told and sights would be seen. Memories for winter nights to last a lifetime.
