Re: Are you a thread killer?
Did you ever have one of those days where you were determined to have a great day but the other person was determined to have a bad day and chose to argue about everything, while at the same time feigning hurt and upset because you don't want to get into the argument?

That was my day. At the same time he wanted to be violent so I told him to stay away from my stuff and hit a tree.

Is this too much information? ... probably. But after holding myself calm through this I'm not so happy anymore. He's playing the poor me. "Everyone's better than me." Which really means "I think I'm better than you but I won't say it"

gaah

Re: Are you a thread killer?
Tough spot to be in, Friend.

I think I mentioned I have to go back generations in my family to find a full deck. Driven, derided, and riddled with the afflictions of booze. Roar like lion at night when in their cups, only to shiver and whimper when dry. As always, more to be pitied and loved than scorned, but in between takes some effort.

If I may, please continue to disengage, Friend. Boozers need to take hostages and reach, lash, and strike-out at anyone in their wake (as the drowning are want to do). Please don't buy into the madness.

At times like the one you described, I've found it best to tell the family member that there are no victims, only volunteers. If he chooses to spin his wheels and dig deeper in the mut of his rut, he needs to know you're not going to be his emotive tow truck.

It's a crawl on the edge of a razor blade, the line of love and harsh reality, but I believe you have the wisdom, empathy, strenght, and love to navigate it.

If it becomes unmanagable, you have to send him packing. No one can quench the oft insatiable physical, mental, and spirtual thirst of a boozer. Make sure you continue to take care of yourself and your son. Extend a hand, but don't get dragged down those dark, dark holes.

As good Beacon said, you don't have to do this alone. You've got pals here.

Best to you, Friend.

Thank you Mac. It is great to know there are people like (all of) you that I really can turn to to vent. He's apologized for his behavior. Today I'm taking a back seat to the madness. I've placed a hedge about me and decided to keep a distance. I don't know if that helps or hurts but I feel wounded.

Thanks again to you. It is nice to know you.
