She's found someone else and wants to make sure that other person likes her back. Until then she will be using you for your resources. If her plan fails, you are still the fallback person, but she will continue to search for someone better. Hence why she is working out.
You may take it as if we are trying to yank your chain, but I have seen it a lot and it's a sad reality that women behave this way.
