Personally I think this rock might stray in to our atmosphere, but will probably explode before impact due
to trajectory. We will find out soon enough.

Here's a few questions!

since this rock is predicted to pass about 38,000 km from Earth, is that distance from the center point or mean sea level?

What is the orbit distance of geosynchronous satellites?

Will this rock take any of them out as it passes?

On average the Moon is 384,399 km (238,854.465 miles, 0.00257 AU) from the Earth

Id more worry about the moon
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9533923

What the fuck?

Moon: 238,000 miles from earth
Meteor: 25,000 miles from earth

The moon is apx 213,000 miles FURTHER AWAY than this meteor.
Are you on crack?

Oh for fuck sakes, a mile is a mile is a mile. The distances of both the moon and this meteor are in miles, there is no confusing a mile with a mile.

If more NEOs are discovered for May 27-28-29 then May 28 could become a "quake date" candidate.

I connect the Arctic quakes today with the high NEO count for May 25, and averages for 2-3-4 days before and after as shown on chart here... which indicated higher quake probability for May 24-25-26

Closest objects over next year, this one is number 2: [link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]

And 275 NEO are known to approach closer than 5 LD in the future and this one is number 4 out 275 for nominal distance and very comparable to 2012 DA14 which got MSM attention [link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]

geosynchronous orbit = 35,786 km

It could maybe

Same here OP. but my dream was years ago. I'll never forget it. It was such a realistic dream(nightmare?). The moon got hit by something big and exploded. I woke up before I could see what the end results were. Several years later I had a dream of meteorites and fireballs raining down on us everywhere. No place to run or hide. That (dream) I considered a nightmare as I was fighting for mine and others lives. Woke up drenched in sweat.

Interesting about all the recent reports of fireballs and explosions happenong lately along with unpredictable NEO's.

Interesting times indeed!!

This object is too new for NASA to post past Close Approach history, so I ran JPL orbit program backward to spot last close approach which was the week of May 31, 1983. That same week one of the 2 biggest quakes in years hit. Probably means nothing though...
