so we are talking around 25,000 mile pass with a condition code of 9 and 3 days to wait. wow. isnt there some rule that in the event of a strike we will only be given a 24 hour notice? seems i read that at some point.

wasnt there a link yesterday about an asteroid drill in oklahoma city and ft worth?

Here it is:
Thread: Emergency Readiness: OKC an Fortworth "METEOR STRIKE" Scenario
 Quoting: TeamReaper

OP in this thread states they received email (works at FAA) and they would be conducting an emergency preparedness drill May 24 (today)and the scenario was:
NASA notifies FAA of a "meteor strike"

No link in thread, i could see why they would not post an email. That said, its odd it was posted about 24 hrs before this and the term meteor was used and not asteroid. it is one added degree to link the two.
 Quoting: TeamReaper

OK, this is getting a little warmer. Remember the Dragon spacecraft that was just launched to international space station? This would be a great cover. First type of this rocket being used would give plausible excuse if it were to have an "accident."

from spaceweather:
"During the early hours of May 25th, the Dragon will approach the docking port on the station's Harmony module. Because this is the Dragon's first visit to the ISS, mission controllers will proceed with caution. A detailed series of navigation and communication tests will be performed before the capsule is allowed to move close enough for astronauts to grab it with the robot arm and connect it to the station."

It is not hot yet, but it is getting pretty damn warm!
In every operation, whether planning it or executing it, you can never count on luck; but you have to accept it, and recognize it when it’s there.

If NASA's model is accurate, it should hit north-eastern Europe around 3-4pm EST

Anyone have a link to that simulation that tells you what would happen if the meteor hit water?? How big of a potential tsunami could occur?

The time of uncertainty is over 2 hours. The last condition 9 that came through the other day was only a 20 minute window of uncertainty. A lot can happen in 2 hours
