I understand that the pure ethnic Ukrainians resent the Russians and the Russian language, but the eastern half of Ukraine is mostly of Russian descent and language. I'm not sure what "official second language" means except that govt documents would also be available printed in Russian. Since I'm sure that many of the Russian speaking Ukrainians cannot read the Ukraine language, it doesn't seem such a bad concession to half the people.

not so, there is great similaraity in the languages, and one can easily understand the other in most instances, if there is a desire to do so.
Most of the russians in ukraine were brought in by stalin to dilute nationalist sentiment, govt insurgents and provacteurs, if you will, to create a foreign outpost and prevent reunification.
Time to pay the piper, if you cant go along with the national priority, and you have a nation you adhere to, then get yourself back home to your own.

Lithuanians did defeat communist invaders in 1919 just in one year, much more quickly than Spain did in civil war, so there were no Lithuanians there. Read some history book to get more knowledge who was behind it, comrade. Some book about existing Ukraine would be good too.
