Anonymous Coward User ID: 16018139 Australia 05/26/2012 12:32 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why does every person's worldly philosophical opinions contradict others? Quoting: Fidokrab Are there no absolutes? How can you be so sure that everything is an illusion? Do you imagine it so, therefore it is? I wouldn't want to hang the destiny of my soul on that idea. 1. No two people's perceptions are exactly the same. Agreement can only come from consensus of opinion, which has no formative effect upon reality, but only upon each one's perception of that reality. 2. Absolutes are engendered by one's perceptions of reality. They are perceived to be the absolute(value), because perception of anything beyond can not be seen. This doesn't mean absolutes are real. They may not exist at all. 3. The individual's perception is the reality for that person. It is an illusion of something that is nonetheless real - and vastly larger than we can ever perceive. EG: An ant, lives in an ant's reality, but it is the same reality as ours. A bat perceives a 3D world in sonar, which is illusion, but valid for navigating its reality. Everything is real, but it is illusive to perception. 4. What is imagined can only grow from perceptions and assumptions about the real world. Imagining is not enough to change anything fundamental about reality, but it can change one's perceptions of that reality - which changes one's actions and reactions - which may lead to things that were imagined... good or bad. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6560737 I've heard it said many times before. People are always saying reality is a dream or a simulation or exists only in our minds or whatever................. ..........how do I benefit from this information? How do I use this information? Becuase I've heard it for years now...not much has changed. Is the goal to escape the simulation a.la. the matrix or the truman show? Is the the goal to create and design the reality of one's choosing? And if yes to either, how? How do I escape? How do I create this? I want 50 million dollars by Sunday morning. How do I make that happen in my simulation? If the point is to escape, then how do I do that? To quote the great prophet Mick Jagger...."you caint always get what you want...but then sometimes, you get what you need!" |

And then even so I think you need luck to do so. I think knowing it is a dream can be a negative experience although it isn't meant to. And does it mean you are awake when you dream in your sleep? The dream concept is irritating to me right now. Quoting: WindyMind If you are sincere and really want to know....google Ramana Maharshi and study his simple steps to self realization. |

This simulation is basically like a shared dream (think Inception, only on a larger scale and for entirely different purposes), so what happens to you is seen and recognized by others in the "dream". But in all actuality you did not really shit your pants - your holographic avatar did. Yes, you can feel/smell/see it, BUT that is simply because your mind is linked into the simulation so that it seems real....but I assure you it isn't. |

Okay, so bottom line is that you believe truth is relative, that my truths may contradict your truths, but in the end they're both correct. I believe that is a lie. I believe there are absolutes and laws we ought to abide by, and there are serious repercussions for not doing so. And these absolutes and laws go beyond our five senses, beyond what we can perceive. It is written in our hearts that we are not to murder, or steal or lie. These are absolutes, these are laws. Now if truth is relative and absolutes are based on our perceptions, I could very well believe, in my reality, that it is okay to do heinous things. And also believe that there are no consequences on top of that. As a result of such a world view, a person can live however they wish. This person will live spiritually blind, living life to serve their flesh, and to die in the end with a list of all the laws this person has broken. And not ever have to give an account to a Creator that created these absolutes and laws in the first place. So the whole 'truth is relative' thing tells us that we are creators and are not subject to a Creator. That is a lie, and it's not a good idea to continue with such a world view.
