In any case the Russians were able to get Chernobyl under control(Sarcophagus)....why can't Japan get Fuckushima under control? They would rather risk possibly the whole world than lose several thousand people. It's population control. |

Stubblebine reportedly attempted to walk through walls himself, without success Yeah, this guy seems like the kind of guy I should be listening to for facts. |

It is sufficiently clear that all things change, yet nothing truly perishes! It riles THEM to believe that you perceive the web they weave- moody blues |

Bottom line is, when TSHTF and our power grid goes down, all of our nuclear power plants will melt down. Not a question of if, but when. And it aint gonna be pretty. |

The next 500-year drought will put a hurt on those puppies. What if every river in the northeast lost 65% of its volume? I guess they've got pumping systems to bring water to the cooling apparatus from longer distances/deeper depths. |
| PhilippinoBob User ID: 16604126 12/08/2012 12:59 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually, to tell you the truth, nuclear reactors ARE safe. VERY SAFE! I am not worried about Fukushima. The true reason behind this Army General's statement is most likely motivated by totally different concerns. However, he will certainly not tell us what is the true reason. They never say the truth... NEVER! PhilippinoBob |

And it aint gonna be pretty. Won't they just take them offline? A reactor can't just be taken off-line. It takes a loooooooong time for the fuel to cool. If the supply of cooling water or the power supply (to pump the water) are interrupted during shut-down, the core melts down. Eevn when reactors are in "cold shut-down" and "off-line", they have to have a supply of cooling water continuously circulated around them or else they melt down. It's a very serious potential problem. |

When you guys say when Fukushima goes, is that like a meltdown due to the nuclear stuff not being cooled? And if it can't be controlled, what exactly will happen and where? |

It's a very serious potential problem. Correct. And they've been storing all of the spent fuel rods at every nuclear power plant for decades. It's not just the reactors themselves that we have to worry about. When the power grid goes down for whatever reason they go to generator power. And once the generators run out of fuel the power to the cooling system stops. Then... melt down. It's amazing how very few people take this shit seriously. |

You are obviously forgetting when most of these reactors were made and their current levels of deterioration. Nuclear facilities are about as safe as a rotting cage holding a full grown Lion back from you. Doesn't sound too safe, does it? |
