Don't know much about this but this is 1/10 of the distance between the moon and the earth... that is really close. It is only 26 meter in diameter but still. Quoting: billyrisk 1597223 20 meter asteroid if not disintegrated and hit directly a city, that entire city will be lost, it has hit power of a few Hiroshima scale nukes. only half of it ever gets through 10 meters will not destroy a whole city but could cause a bad tsunami if hits the water. 70% of planet is water 80% of planet's population lives near water |

Asteroid discovered May 28 can take out satellites May 29... historic close approach without warning! I did just a quick approximation on my calculator which isn't exact, but at .05 LD and using 238,000 miles as 1LD, the asteroid will pass by us somewhere around 12000 miles. That's pretty close :) Eireann~ I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - Galatians 2:20 |

Asteroid discovered May 28 can take out satellites May 29... historic close approach without warning! Especially this talk about a potential major earthquake from a schoolbus sized rock 20,000km away? You need to think past that and to what it truly could mean. Just think what you could do with your own schoolbus if you drove it over a fault line yourself! Even better, you could get 10 friends and a FLEET of buses. They're already in the atmosphere, so they won't break up or anything. We're talking 20 hiroshimas at that point. Maybe 30! |

Commies, Terrorists, Rogue States, Asteroids, Aliens. All this hype on asteroids lately has us moving to the final phase which is where things should finally get fun. (fighting asteroids is pretty f'n boring) |
