I believe that you may have the wrong desert. While I am not a scientist, my studies have led me to believe that the Taklamakan Desert located near the Tibetin Plateau. As described in the book of Enoch, a fire melted mountains and to this day the Taklamakan Desert is referred to the lake of death. With all the geological damage in that region I would tend to believe that a heavenly object impacted that area possibly cracking the crust as the impact of this object, approximately 200 mile plus in size, I believe the the impact cracked pushing the entire section of crust upwards causing India to the south to slip it's northern section up and under the mountains. Old field reports the the strata of the region tends to lean toward the north, northwest.
I believe this was the cause of pangea and it caused the Fllood!

I have spoken to Asazel before. Only once. He is very powerful but he is a slave to the Hebrew magicians that benefit from his binding. He is not "evil". He is a powerful spiritual being that was never human (or anything LIKE human. He is largely friendly but, like most of his ilk, doesn't like to have his time wasted over trivial matters.
