Re: feds take down animal planet's website on mermaids
Cass Sunstein, head of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs and his Call it a Conspiracy Theory, even if it’s perfectly true policy, i think may be in play with the mermaid story if it turns out to be a hoax. I still havent seen it myself, but its an epic way for the government to marginalize people that are paying attention if it was an intentional one. Mermaids might be real, but there's a much bigger benefit in all of this if they are not, still its going to be difficult to explain the banned website but they will find a way.
The basic premise of Sunstien's governance policy according to him, is if people catch onto what the government is trying to accomplish through its policy, is to call them conspiracy theorist, especially if its true, the general public will jump onto the ban wagon tearing that person down and by the time they realize it was true all along it will be too late to change. Also he's stated that the average American is like homer simpson and willing to believe anything. Apparently a lot of people are buying into this mermaid theory, and when i finally get to see it i may also, but im just a tad concerned of who would benefit from this being a hoax

our country is falling apart, don't get distracted by this sudden and amazingly overly popular mermaid belief until we know more.

It is Extrodinary "IF" it turns out to be a hoax, because we have proof the white house is involved due to the blocked website

all of the websites that were allegedly taken down trace back to animal planet's IP address. It's a fake takedown, maybe to increase the hype!

Maybe they shut the domain down because the site owners downloaded the Animal Planet show about Mermaids, and then re-uploaded it to their site's server for redistribution. Copyright infringement stuff??

guys, the website being "taken down" is just part of the effect. the show is a fiction, made in the style of a documentary to make it more interesting. do you think that if the DOJ took down a website because they were trying to conceal state secrets that they'd post on said website that they had done so? The website is a fake -- it's just for effect.

Classic psyop. Mix in a bit of truth here, bit of classified info there, with a whole bunch of disinfo and fiction. You get two results..one: skeptics throw the good info completely out with the bad(which discredits the bits of truth). Two: "open-minded" people that buy the whole thing, get disillusioned when they find out it was "all" fiction..so end result..if a REAL document or evidence surfaces about, let's say, experimental Navy sonar killing whales and dolphins..then both the skeptics and disillusioned both dismiss it out of hand.
"The sick individual finds himself at home with all other similarly sick individuals. The whole culture is geared to this kind of pathology. The result is that the average individual does not experience the separateness and isolation the fully schizophrenic person feels. He feels at ease among those who suffer from the same deformation; in fact, it is the fully sane person who feels isolated in the insane society — and he may suffer so much from the incapacity to communicate that it is he who may become psychotic"..Erich Fromm

If so...there should be laws about impersonating police activity.
 Quoting: Chip

There are probably standing laws in place about faking a DHS or DOJ website takedown using the actual DHS or DOJ insignia.

Other fake takedowns have used phony, comical "Attorney for the Department of Terrorism" - type logos.

This appears to be a joke that has gone too far.

I could see TPTB allowing use of government logos if it served a psy-ops purpose. The inconsistency in the page coding could allow for plausible deniability. But, the fact that TPTB are not prosecuting anyone for the use of official logos should say something.

Re: feds take down animal planet's website on mermaids
I think there was something more to this show than just mermaids. I didn't see more than the first 30 minutes, but at the beginning one of the scientists says that he didn't believe in the 9/11, JFK, and some other conspiracy but then he supposedly saw the mermaid and his world view was shaken or something. So, maybe this program was a subtle way of getting people to put stock in other conspiracies by making it look like there are actual mermaids. I mean, maybe there are mermaids, but regardless, I think the show also had the purpose of getting people to think more openly about "conspiracy" theories. So, that would be a more likely motivation for the page being removed.

Although, I went to the animal planet site and it's still up. Are you sure this other site was officially linked to the show?

sounds like thier trying to cover the mermaids up. There are alot of things on this planet that hasnt been discovered yet. Everyone just has to keep an open mind about everything going on in this world. Almost everything is not what it seems!

Re: feds take down animal planet's website on mermaids
pigchef Could have been a government experiment that escaped? Not a evolutionary wonder that we have yet to discover. We have discovered many things. Mermaids we would have before anything else that's for sure. But with today's technology. Mixing genes and dna to create a creature with human and fish like properties... is possible. We mix dna and genes with many animals already. Like the spider goat. And cloning has been going on for couple years now. Plus makes more sense that they would use a sonic boom to take out and escaped human created mermaid rather then them just finding it on a beach randomly.

If you for one moment entertained the possibility that this was real, that people actually found a MERMAID, you are so gullible and detached from reality that you deserve to be punked.

Don't despair though, I heard that a band of mountaineers in the remote mountains of Transylvania actually discovered Count Chocula's castle, containing the mummified remains of Frankenberry, and that BBC will be airing the documentary sometime this summer.

Re: feds take down animal planet's website on mermaids
First off how do any of you know the government doesn't have people on here or any other websites for that matter trying to provide misinformation and bs to us in order to prevent people from taking real action against them to find out if they really know something about mermaids they're not telling us?

The cast information on imdb only covers the three actors in the dramatizations and the narrator. Not the anonymous ex government agent and the other "actors" "portraying" the other scientists that showed their faces.

Let's say the other "actors" are actually real actors from other documentaries or what have you.If you had insider information about an intelligent species the government was playing games with and you felt it was your moral duty to get the word out, why not do it through an actor with a b.s. name on a part fictional/part factual animal planet documentary during monster week? It would be a nice way of protecting yourself. Especially if you know the government will destroy your life for talking. In addition, most of the people watching the documentary won't get the underlying message that this species exists anyways....which you would obviously expect. Which is why at the end of the day at least you were able to let the world know this crazy information and you probably reason that there will always be a few people who are smart enough to make their own conclusions and do something about it.

pencil pushing scientists aren't as spineless as the government thought they'd be lol.
