Re: Is Romney courting Rand Paul? Report: Mitt Romney holds private meeting with Rand Paul on Wednesday
Democrats and Republicans are two wings of the same bird of prey.

Elections are actually useful tools of social control. They just provide the populace with meaningless participation in a process that validates an establishment that never meaningfully changes.

The establishment doesn’t want and doesn’t have the consent of the governed. The two-party system is actually a mechanism used to limit so-called public opinion. There are more than two sides to every issue, but the two parties want to box you in to a corner, one of their corners.

There’s no such thing as public opinion, because every thinking person has opinions that are uniquely his own. Public opinion is just a manufactured narrative that makes it easier to convince people that if their views are different, there’s something wrong with that – or something wrong with them.

The whole purpose of the Democratic and Republican parties is not to expand voters’ choices, but to limit them. The widely perceived differences between the two parties is just an illusion.

The heart of government policy remains the same, no matter who’s in the White House. The heart of government policy remains the same, no matter what the people want.

Those vaunted differences between Democrat and Republican are actually just minor disagreements. Both parties just want power and are willing to have young people fight meaningless wars to enhance that power.

Both parties continue to fight the war on drugs just to give bureaucrats and cops bigger budgets and more jobs.

Government policies don’t change when government’s leaders do. No matter who wins an election, government stays the same.

Government is really a revolving door of political hacks, bent on exploiting the people while they’re in charge.

Rand is no Ron, he gives me a bad vibe .

I have to agree with you....just because he's Ron's son doesn't mean he thinks the same way. This did it for me:

Thread: Senator Rand Paul, son of presidential candidate Ron Paul, essentially endorses MITT ROMNEY for president!!! Video included.
 Quoting: Laura Bow

Nah, I don't think it's father vs. son.

It's more like good cop / bad cop. You can decide which is "good" or "bad" but the point is that they can communicate with the opposition and cut deals.

One thing they don't want is for the convention to go totally out of control and, say, Jeb Bush step in as nominee. This is their pie and they're going to split it.

Smart, professional strategy. I would expect no less from any of them.

All this is true, but the two party system may not be worse than other methods, such as the Parliamentary system.

There's a result in economics known as "Arrow's Impossibility Theorem" that shows there is no way to organize a system that gives always meaningful voting results.

Exactly! Further on ...
"But it is exactly the ability to compromise that makes a man noble. "

Ron Paul will succeed from this in some important way. He's determined not to go down with nothing to show for it, as he did with his third-party runs.

Only way I vote for Romney is...

Rand or Ron is VP. Ron is Treasurer. Or Ron is Chairman of the Fed.

I would vote Romney if Rand is VP though. Rand is no Ron and Rand does make some pretty dumb comments periodically. But Rands voting record backs him up and I also like how he can handle himself as a public speaker better than Ron.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1271389

I don't understand, what good would Rand as VP be if Romney is going to continue Obama's path?
 Quoting: Laura Bow

EXACTLY!
I may have traits of my mother and father but I am not them, I am my own person. Rand is not Ron, he has his own soul.

Ron has years of proof that shows he walks the talk, Rand don't.

I would never vote for Romney because he asked a relative of Ron Paul to be a VP, how ridiculous is that? Romney voted for the NDAA and believes in doing that kind of crap. Why does ANYONE on this website want to vote for him? Because they hate Obama? How stupid these enlightened people are, really.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15359896

After today there will be two choices. Are you going to vote for Mitt Romney & co., or Barack Obama & co.?

By the way, Barack Obama signed the NDAA with an executive order, unconstitutionally.

-------

" One of the most extraordinary documents in human history -- the Bill of Rights -- has come to an end under President Barack Obama. Derived from sacred principles of natural law, the Bill of Rights has come to a sudden and catastrophic end with the President's signing of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a law that grants the U.S. military the "legal" right to conduct secret kidnappings of U.S. citizens, followed by indefinite detention, interrogation, torture and even murder. This is all conducted completely outside the protection of law, with no jury, no trial, no legal representation and not even any requirement that the government produce evidence against the accused. It is a system of outright government tyranny against the American people, and it effectively nullifies the Bill of Rights.

In what will be remembered as the most traitorous executive signing ever committed against the American people, President Obama signed the bill on New Year's Eve, a time when most Americans were engaged in the consumption of alcohol. It seems appropriate, of course, since no intelligent American could accept the tyranny of this bill if they were sober.

This is the law that will cement Obama's legacy in the history books as the traitor who nullified the Bill of Rights and paved America's pathway down a road of tyranny that will make Nazi Germany's war crimes look like child's play. If Bush had signed a law like this, liberals would have been screaming "impeachment!""

Today at the Texas primary....

I love this story.. from the dailypaul..

We voted
Submitted by comrade nooni on Tue, 05/29/2012 - 13:56. Permalink

Me, my son, my mom, brother, sister, sister in law all voted for Paul today. I took my 98 year old Grandfather to his polling place and had to take a pledge so I could help him with his ballot. He's was a Gingrich supporter, I was showing him all the candidates were there and he could vote for whoever he wanted. He asked me "where's our guy?", I said again, you can vote for anyone you like.
"Where is Ron Paul?", I point to his name and he fills in the circle!! I wanted to cry!!!!

It is not "hating on Obama". It is called the truth.

What Bush & Clinton done doesn't matter anymore. It is time to live in the present. In the present Barack Obama & his cronies are destroying jobs, the economy, and lives.

Most Americans are sick of the Obama circus act. They will vote Barack Obama out.

At the least, Mitt Romney doesn't have deep ties to communism, the muslim brotherhood, and terrorists Bill Ayers & Bernardine Dohrn.

If Bush had signed a law like this, liberals would have been screaming "impeachment!""

a glimpse of the future:

Rand will accept VP with Romney

and Ron Paul will retire from public office
but will be hired at a TV network and do
political commentary. His words and actions
controlled by TPTB. Both Rand and Ron will
receive their monthly paychecks from
the Vatican as usual.
End of Revolution.

Exactly! Further on ...
"But it is exactly the ability to compromise that makes a man noble. "

Ron Paul will succeed from this in some important way. He's determined not to go down with nothing to show for it, as he did with his third-party runs.

So we have given up the republic, and are now in mob/media rule, and the Paul's are going to counter with a return of monarchy? I'd rather pick the leader by the guy who has the most invested in the project.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 10321246

You imagine we have ever not had mob/media rule? Certainly we have in the 20th and so far in the 21st centuries.

If you want the guy with the biggest holdings, that would be Romney. And that has always carried a lot of weight in getting things done. He's entitled to a lot of respect from Republican power-brokers because of it.

That's how it works, and it's not even particularly unconstitutional! The constitution was written by property owners, for property owners, making the states constitutors for the listed debts.

I hope so. After Romney is defeated, it will set up Rand's candidacy in 2016. January 20, 2017, could be the year we take back the republic.

pageant of the punk-outs.

rand paul - big blob of nothingness ... don't even know who or what he is...he's establishment, set for the betrayal of his constituency, just like all the others.

and this ticket LOSES, and LOSES royally.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6231580

It's the only chance Romney has at winning. And if he losses it won't be by much at all not sure were you're shaping your opinion from. With Rand in Romney's corner it'll surely be to close to call.

Rand is no Ron, he gives me a bad vibe .
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5322846

I have to agree with you....just because he's Ron's son doesn't mean he thinks the same way. This did it for me:

Thread: Senator Rand Paul, son of presidential candidate Ron Paul, essentially endorses MITT ROMNEY for president!!! Video included.
 Quoting: Laura Bow

Not really, he couldn't endorse his father. He just couldn't. Romney is the favorite and sometimes you gotta take one for the team.

Uhh, he did endorse Ron in the primary.

Usually when someone makes a comment like "You gonna go shoot up an elementary school?", it's transference. Either that or the person is full of hate.

Shooting up an elementary school or suggesting it as a possibility would never even occur to a normal person.
