Quoting: b 4371304 I think it's obvious I could be labeled an alcoholic and I really can't argue with that. I can't just drink a glass. Oddly enough, up until about 2 years ago I could just drink a glass. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 16659040 05/29/2012 03:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I haven't always done this so nasty people can feck off. I am just in a really bad place and I find that a bottle of wine each evening melts away the stress and allows me to be a better mother. I will actually really enjoy hanging out with my kids as opposed to just going through the motions with them Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8806956 Now that I have done this for about a week, I feel like a bottle of wine isn't all that much when drunk over the course of several hours. Obviously I do not want to make a habit out of this. I am just surprised how easy it is to do! I drink the $5 bottles like Rex Goliath because I'm not rich. I don't get hangovers either. Surely there are others who also polish off a bottle a day? The cheaper wines have a lower alcohol content. I was drinking close to a bottle a day, but stopped because it made me tired the next day. I found a good 3.00 bottle of white wine. Tasted good, low alcohol content.I'd be a little concerned if you increased to two bottles/day. |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8806956 05/29/2012 03:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The thing is, nothing excites me anymore. It's a chore to do anything. The only thing that makes me feel good is drinking. I can't do antidepressants. Everyone I have tried put me in the hospital w/ extreme low blood pressure. So I guess I am fucked. My kids definitely deserve a mom who can enjoy them and life without wine. I just don't know how to get out of this place w.out meds, and meds mess me up. |

The best way though is find the stress and remove it or change it. I know a lot of factors (like life in general) cannot be changed but only dealt with in healthy ways. Sometimes you need a life style change. I still drink just not a bottle a day. I have one drink just about every night. Best of luck to you. I will not judge you, for it is not my job, I'm not worthy of such a task. |

Then look further then your wine because there is a reason that you seem to feel the Need to drink a bottle.Find this problem and take care of,alcohol does not solve your problems eventhough it may seem it does at the time. |

Lol Ok try this keep drinking the bottle but slowly cut it back to 3 glasses then two glasses. You will still get the same enjoyment but at a lower alcohol intake. One or two glasses of wine will not hurt you but like everything in life anything in excess will hurt you The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I'm here to help. |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8806956 05/29/2012 03:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | exercise op Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16868248 it releases opiates in the brain that make you feel just as good as that filthy stuff your liver has to process every single day and you'll have the added benefit of living long enough to cuddle your grandchildren too Oddly enough, when I was exercising several weeks ago, I didn't really want to drink. And yes, drinking makes me tired the next day too so that makes me not want to exercise. I feel like a loser, I really do, but I see other people have their bad habits too. I eat really healthy at least. I am slender. I don't do street drugs. Otoh, once in awhile I am gifted some Vicodin and I like that a lot more than drinking but that stuff really messes up your liver. Plus it is sooo addictive. I found myself wanting to try to get a prescription. I didn't allow myself to though, I could not deal with a Vicodin addiction on top of everything else. At least wine is easier to quit than that stuff. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1429178 05/29/2012 03:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Are you drinking red wine? It's actually good for you. A bottle of wine is 4 glasses. That's no so much short term. If it's getting you thru a rough period, and as you say, no other pills, etc., I think that's OK. Make sure you drink lots of water to help your system process the wine. I wouldn't do it for any longer than necessary - maybe a couple of months. IF you have trouble sleeeping thru the night, that means you're drinking too much. |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8806956 05/29/2012 03:40 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yikes. I know it's a possibility, but I also never take painkillers or anything so my liver only has to deal with the wine. Also, I plan to quit drinking altogether in a little while. Do you really want to be an alcoholist? No, but it runs in my family in a BIG way. |
| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8806956 05/29/2012 03:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No, but if you pour it in a Gatorade bottle you can get it through the gate when you watch your kid play football ;) Quoting: BRIEF I'm not a soccer mom but I can see myself doing that sort of thing! Kind of sad really, but I have actually snuck in some liquor in places, but just because I didn't want to pay $7 for a beer. |

I love wine and actually feel better if I could drink a couple of glasses per day.Wine is good for you as long as you dont over do it. If you are drinking a standard size bottle over a few hours I dont see a lot of problems with it.If you feel high or drunk then you are over doing it.Like you I can drink a bottle and not have a hangover but I have always had a high tolerance to alcohol and it always took a huge amount to make me feel high. Most the cheap wine like Boones Farm have low alcohol content, probably less than beer.A whole bottle is similar to drinking 3 beers.so over the period of an afternoon its not a lot. I would be concerned of liking it so much I wanted to do it everyday because there will come a point one bottle wont be enough. Also make sure you have someone to call should you need to drive. |

That is way too much. Here's the thing about your plan. It sounds good, but I don't know what happened to me lately that I can no longer be happy feeling relaxed and only slightly buzzed. I feel that feeling and it feels so great that I think "why stop now?" I think I just can't buy it and have it in my house. That will be far easier than trying to limit myself to 1-2 glasses. |

Even if you do not develope cirosis your liver will become fatty. I drank for 15 years . thank God I never developed a taste for the hard stuff because I would be dead . I gave myself alcohol poisoning twice . it is very painful having a juandiced liver trust me . I was just 31 at the time and it still took me 4 more years to sober up for life . you plan to quit drinking totally ? quit now . |

| Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 8806956 05/29/2012 03:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A bottle of wine a day is really not that bad my great grandfather drank a bottle a day of red wine untill his death at 97. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9139356 Wow. I guess it's all in the genes. I know a guy who died in his early 40s from his liver blowing up from alcohol (3x normal size at death). I think he must have been drinking a fifth or more of vodka each day. I don't know. Last night I drank half a bottle, and then I was so happy about that that I am sitting here drinking the other half, telling myself I won't have any tonight. Is that so bad? Don't many cultures drink wine in the afternoon? |

Quoting: aloy3313 16845718 I drink nearly my recommended weekly intake of 21 units every night and row 4000 metres twice a week and run 3 miles, including a 180ft hill 3 times a week Wow, you must have Irish blood lol. My mom is half Irish ad she drank more than a bottle a night. She got Alzheimer's at 55 though. I am just not sure it was the booze though, the docs really messed up her body since she was in her 30s. I am starting exercise classes in a few weeks so maybe that will help some with the cravings. I am impressed though that you are so active, drinking makes me lazy the next day but not hungover. I feel great today though. |

My dad said it (I seen it get a grip of him) that cider is the ONLY drink that can get a grip of people. He says you wake up in the morning holding your hand out looking for a bottle. So yeah. Stay clear. Also wine is a lot stronger than most beer believe it or not. So I'd be very careful. |

That's interesting! Back in the day a boyfriend and I used to drink a 6 pack of cider on a Sat night. We upgraded to a magnum of wine though, but the cider was so crisp and delicious. I almost went back to it because I am gluten free now and cheap wine really doesn't excite me, but thanks for the heads up, I will steer clear. Vodka is the only drink I don't crave, but I feel like such a lush buying that stuff. |
