Put olive oil on your iPad or iPhone screen to clean it??
This guy "Tony" says to rub some "cold pressed extra virgin olive oil" on the screen of your iPad or iPhone to clean grubby fingerprints off it, and stop new fingerprints from appearing.

The bit at the end which says "seek independent advice before using any of the tips from Tony" is pretty funny. So has anybody tried rubbing olive oil on any of their screens?

Olive oil is high acid oil so it might work on the screen glass but it will seep into any openings and can damage the switches and the circuits if it gets inside.

I wouldn't use it

I wouldn't use it either. I don't even have "cold pressed extra virgin olive oil", only "pure olive oil".

So what is an appropriate way of cleaning a laptop screen? Some sort of alcohol on a piece of paper?

Laptops are plastic screen so get some screen cleaner for LCD screens.

The iPad and iPhone are AMOLED and are ceramic glass screens.

with any laptop i ever owned,I always cover the screen with clear platic wrap/pull it tight around the "frame" and secure it and change it as needed--never needs cleaning.

Doesn't plastic wrap cause static electricity? That might be a bad idea if it does, because static electricity can damage electronics.
