The puppet theater rolls on at the White House........
[link to hosted.ap.org]

Article from the AP, about W's portrait unveiling. Describes the cozy relationships of the men that have held the position. Also, despite supposedly being heated rivals, how they always seem to bury the hatchet and become friends when the campaign is over. All most as if they were never really rivals to begin with, and its like professional wrestling. Good showmanship, but staged none the less. This is the puppet theater at its best.

This is America. Just as we fight hard when the stakes are high, we close ranks and come together when the contest is done.

And while there will be time enough to debate our continuing differences, now is the time to recognize that that which unites us is greater than that which divides us.

While we yet hold and do not yield our opposing beliefs, there is a higher duty than the one we owe to political party. This is America and we put country before party.

It was just like this when Bush got into the White House with the Clintons; indeed, the two wives were seen doing quite a bit together while I lived in the DC area.

Of course, I think papa Bush is the one who has orchestrated this since Reagan... I don't think Carter was in on it (and Carter knows some things, keeps silent, but tries his hardest to do what he thinks is good, even if he is ineffective and often does silly things --- I think he does it this way in part because he knows it's as far as he can go).

Carters entire cabinet were members of the Trilateral Commission. He was as guilty as any. He just played his role that is all.

Carter himself wasn't in it, but from what I can tell, once he got into office, he was forced to do things which he didn't want to do. Even Pat Robertson (who I detest, for the most part) has had interesting stories on this. He was forced into silence. He isn't one of them, but I don't think he wanted to be JFKed.

Don't be surprised if something comes out when he knows he has little time left.

You may be right. I hope so, to have a whistle blower like Carter would be epic.

The only reason why I think he might avoid it is out of fear for his family. That is one thing JFK I think didn't have, if you get what I mean.
