In 1990, Daniels left the Hudson Institute to accept a position at Eli Lilly and Company, the largest corporation headquartered in Indiana at that time.[19] He was first promoted to President of North American Operations (1993–97) and then to Senior Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Policy (1997–2001).[6][7][16] During his time at Lilly, Daniels managed a successful strategy to deflect attacks on Lilly's Prozac product by a public relations campaign against the drug being waged by the Church of Scientology. In one interview in 1992, Daniels said of the organization that "it is no church," and that people on Prozac were less likely to become victims of the Church. The Church responded by suing Daniels in a libel suit for $20 million. A judge dismissed the case.[20] Eli Lilly experienced dramatic growth during Daniels' tenure at the company. Prozac sales made up 30–40% of Lilly's income during the mid-to-late 1990s, and Lilly doubled its assets to $12.8 billion and doubled its revenue to $10 billion during the same period. When Daniels later became Governor of Indiana, he drew heavily on his former Lilly colleagues to serve as advisers and agency managers. [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1275429 United States 05/31/2012 11:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Another little article I found. Now Mitch Daniels is looking for his place at the big boy table. Daniels is courting George W. Bush in hopes of finding a chair. In order to get a chair this way you have to have something to deal. Mitch Daniels has been a "good boy", selling existing state roadway infrastructure to foreign (king of Spain) owned toll road companies ( Here is their Spanish website [link to www.cintra.es] ) to create I-69; something other governors (and better known Bilderberg attendees like Rick Perry) have failed at; and so the king(s) is/are surely more happy with Mitch Daniels traitorous service to them than with Rick Perry's dedicated but failed bumbling around. But in order for Mitch Daniels to even have a chance at being the Republican Nominee he has to do more... Mitch Daniels will have to support someone else first (like McCain did when he threw the Nomination to Bush, Jr. in 2000). Since Romney won Iowa but threw the nomination to McCain in 2008, its Romney's turn to win, because Romney has already paid these dues. Payback belongs to Romney in 2012, regardless of all the Flip Flops or the stupid things he continually says. So with this Mitch Daniel's clearly does have a chance to move from the kiddie table and put himself in a big boy chair... and the mainstream media is celebrating his graduation even before it happens. And though it will be hard (nearly impossible) for Mitch Daniels to get the required level of corporatist media support for the nomination in 2012, Mitch Daniels is building the proper corrupt alliances to have foreign corporate support in either 2016 or 2020. That and well Indiana makes around 28% of all the Jet engines in the world.Allison and Rolls-Royce both have major plants in Indiana.Allison also makes transmissions for everything from M1 main battle tank to US air craft carriers. Then there is Cummins engine company.Who makes Diesel engines for nearly every application. From Tractor trailers, farm machinery, ships, tanks, and DOD certified generators. There are oil wells in operation in much of southern Indiana. Plenty of fresh water and millions of acres of tilled farm land. So yes there is probably many things of interest in Indiana to TPTB. |

Oh,and of course Eli Lillys.Who makes OVER 90% of ALL the insulin used WORLD WIDE.I worked there for 11 years.Given that the Lilly family no longer has much control at all over the company.I think controlling that high a percentage of a drug that is NEEDED world wide would greatly interest tptb. |

MrRumpleSteelskin User ID: 16472828 United States 06/02/2012 02:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in Southern Indiana. The latest noteworthy thing concerning our "main man" Mitch is the push for, and the passing of, "Right to Work" in Indiana. He should be getting a nice pat on the back at the meeting for pulling that off. Mitch is also the king of privatization and union busting in the Midwest. He is being considered for Vice President. I know he has announced that he will not seek another term as Gov. He is definitely an evil little imp that has very little real opposition in Indiana politics due to his corporate whoring. Another piece of shit with a comb-over..... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1275429 I was never fooled by him. Remember when Gov. O'Bannon died unexpectedly of a stroke while attending an international trade meeting in Chicago? My very first thought was that he was murdered. He was on his second term and couldn't run again, but he was well liked, and I'm sure whomever he endorsed would have most likely won the election. I think they were paving the way for Bush's boy Mitch Daniels to become governor. I actually liked O'Bannon and Joe Kernan. I had a bad feeling about Daniels from the get-go. The little bastard even looks like a snake. |
