The Zombie debate..bring it
Ok, so all the Zombie-thread haters say Zombies aren't real. Well, let's hash this out then. If by Zombie you mean dead people reanimated, then yes you are right..that has yet to happen. We are taking liberty by using the term Zombie, I will give you that. But people are ACTING like Zombies, mindless, eating flesh, hard to kill, etc.
"The sick individual finds himself at home with all other similarly sick individuals. The whole culture is geared to this kind of pathology. The result is that the average individual does not experience the separateness and isolation the fully schizophrenic person feels. He feels at ease among those who suffer from the same deformation; in fact, it is the fully sane person who feels isolated in the insane society — and he may suffer so much from the incapacity to communicate that it is he who may become psychotic"..Erich Fromm

I've been a fan of zombie movies and shows for years, but barring some supernatural influence..dead people coming out of the grave and walking around is physically impossible. But if you haven't noticed.."Zombie" movies for the last several years have evolved. Resident Evil was genetic experiments trying to create a genetic "fountain of youth" vaccine gone horribly wrong. "I Am Legend"..a cancer vaccine using a RABIES strain(very interesting) gone horribly wrong. "28 days"..basically the same. "The Crazies" a cargo or chemtrail plane crashes into the drinking water of a town..with an unknown cargo that makes everyone that drinks the contaminated water a mindless homicidal "Zombie"(like the smoking toxic barrel that washed up in Florida?) anyway..that's my opening debate..go!

I guess what my argument is..don't be so anal about the use of the word "zombie"..if your face is getting eaten off by a human, you probably won't be so picky about semantics!

"But there are fears that the research, detailed in the journal Science, could be abused to create the ultimate biological weapon, or that one mistake in a lab could lead to millions being wiped out by a plague, in scenes reminiscent of the Will Smith film I Am Legend."

My personal observation is "zombies" are a psychological projection of idiots. A kind of extremely low-resolution version of reality, if you will.

Yes indeed, zombies are as real as the idiots among us.

It also shows how difficult it is in today's internet age to have a meaningful conversation about anything at all. How can we discuss, for instance, the recent outbreak of cannibalism and other gory crimes when the discussion is stopped short every time by some smart ass who has nothing important whatsoever to add but just must take issue on the grounds of those utterly crucial semantics?

Re: The Zombie debate..bring it
I guess my whole point here is it doesn't really matter what the label is, many of us on GLP label the perps in these articles "zombies", because we are fans of horror. It's dark humor, trying to cope with a world gone insane. But no matter what you label them, cannibal or zombie or drug addict..it's VERY disturbing how MANY cases are popping up in the last couple of weeks. So debate if you want, but how bout we focus on what is REALLY important..like what the hell is going on with this?!

Difficult..yes. But not impossible. I get your point, and it is indeed frustrating, but you must keep in mind, without the internet, we would not only NOT be able to debate this..we wouldn't even have the info we have to debate ABOUT my friend

Re: The Zombie debate..bring it
I say zombies are very real, just not the way George Romero portrays them. If you ask someone of Hatain decent they will tell you. The true zombie is drugged and feins death, the master then comes gives the person another drug and is said to "capure their soul".

They are not mindless killing machines, but rather a well controlled monster. The question isn't are there zombies, but rather who controlls them.
