Being brutally honest - real-life 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' scenarios
Just wondering if anyone else here,

1) Watches Curb Your Enthusiasm
2) Agrees with almost everything Larry David says and does
3) Has attempted to be as brutally honest and straight forward as Mr. David is in the series, as a sort of social experiment

Watch your friends fall like flies. flip

I never did understand why people prefer false optimism to honesty.
I also never understood why people prefer to talk shit behind each others backs, instead of confronting each other with their issues.
And I will certainly never understand people that get so offended and angry when you choose to personally confront them about something in a civilized fashion. It's almost as if people PREFER to be backstabbed and lied to, just to ignore their own faults.

Hell, half the reason I've been conducting my social experiment is to see who has the balls to call me out on my stubborn honesty. To see who I can trust, to see who prefers to gossip instead.

"Keeping it to yourself" is extremely overrated in todays society. "White lies" I can only tolerate to an extent, but when they are tolerated to such an extreme that if one chooses to express an unpopular opinion, they are attacked and outcasted? That's when it goes too far. And THEN, when that person makes the choice to defend themselves and their outlandish, yet honest opinions, they are then made out to be this enormous douchebag, a whiner or complainer, just for defending their opinion from the real douchebags; people too dumb to argue or debate, so they resort to personal insults and putdowns.

Blissful ignorance seems like the key to todays social interaction. Maybe that's why everyone's so fucking stupid; they're willingly stifling their intellect to impress each other. It happens in schools (high school, college, trade school) it happens amongst friends, it happens in various 'scenes' (rave scene, metalheads, jam bands) and it happens in the workplace. Which is the worst place, of course, because being honest at work is like asking to get fired.

Rant with me, call me a shithead, DO IT! Be honest. Verbally is like this forgotten, forbidden method of venting. Maybe people wouldn't be ripping chunks of flesh off each others face with their teeth if they had taken the time to tell the person in front of them in line buying 15 different scratch tickets they're in a hurry to get to a job interview. Or to tell the asshole yelling into a bluetooth to keep it down.

In a sense, it's a respect for truth and honesty that all conspiracy theorists are connected by - that, and at the very least, a TINGE of psychosis or paranoia of some sort.

Larry's too damn funny.

Being honest never did make one popular.

I always root for him. People always overreact to what he does, it never fails. His intentions are arguably noble, in a lot of cases. But he's always taken out of context, with no chance to explain himself, it never fails. Makes for some of the funniest TV I've ever seen, that's for sure. He really is too damn funny. I easily prefer Curb Your Enthusiasm to Seinfeld, which is a more toned-down version of Curb.

I put in long years as a chef, most of us have a sense of humor like Larry. It's a business you have to be brutally honest with people in, most of the time it's highly amusing.

The fuck? First of all, put down the bath salts and nutmeg before you post, it's difficult to make sense of what you're typing.
And secondly, I started this half-serious discussion for everyone to make bitter observations with me; this isn't meant to be a solo production.
