I have the ability to see auras around people and do so all of the time.

I've always been able to see them, but only when I was about 12 or so did I understand what they were and not everyone could see them. I can see them if I look for them otherwise they kind of fade into the background of things. Much like being able to ignore or tune out sounds unless you are specifically listening for them.
