The last two yrs I had 6ft tomato plants with a hand full of tomatoes. This yr I bought some tomatoes from a road side stand. I thought they were home grown vine ripe tomatoes, (they were perfect in size and shape so I should have known better) but they were as hard and bland as they come. If I can't find a tomato that is cracked or bumpy or smells like a real tomato then I'm not going to buy another one. With the drought here I doubt there are any growing or ripening as they should. I knew it . . . The end near . . . Without a decent tomato . . . What is there worth living for????? I've resorted to eating them out of the can. At lease they are juicy and have flavor. Either that or I can get them this way....  You might try starting your tomatoes from seed... From what I heard the seeds from most places do not produce plants that produce seeds. I couldn't dream of not having pizza, spaghetti or lasagna or T-juice, as it is I do truly miss my real vine ripe tomatoes. It is still a little early in the season for the real tomatoes to come forth. So maybe not all is lost. |
