I have read extensively on the Dyatlov Pass Incident. There still remains a lack of part of the evidence, a possible cover-up by the Russian military before the party was discovered, and even still today, the Russian government will not disclose what happened to 9 hikers in their own back yard.

Ask yourself why the Military was searching for them and were the ones to find them?
They have civilian police and search and rescue for this the military hardly ever gets involved in such things.
Unless they wanted to be the ones to find them so they could cover it up because they did it.

...I think the original official story was 'they all died of hypothermia'... although reports from locals mentioned that 'orange orb like objects' were seen at the location...this might be why it became a military rescue operation at the time;

...unless of course like you say, it was some type of experiment...but then the question would be - 'why experiment in that location, and with these people', which would (and has) definitely result in media attention and/or controversy, which could easily be avoided if indeed it were just some type of military experiment... do you see what I mean?
