people can barely understand the bible, it was written in another time for ancient people that have long gone. yet we are supposed to learn from it? this logic makes no sense. and if you translate it into newer english then you declare it NOT to be the word of god, because the word of god cannot be changed. and its been changed countless of times. its a big giant heaping mess, so what ive decided is.......i dont know anything. simple, logical, THE TRUTH.

Um... that's a great philosophy there. So if something is hard to understand, you should give up, right? What about computer programming? That's pretty difficult but with a little patience and study you can learn it. What about playing a musical instrument? That is pretty hard and very frustrating. Should everyone just forget about that too?

Come on. It's called studying. You don't become a scholar sitting on your ass in front of the boob tube eating cheesy poofs. Learn the language and dialect of the times. Find a scholar that knows those languages. Learn the languages and you learn the original manuscripts. Pretty simple really. It's not that hard. There are tons of scholars that have already done all the work for you even.

Seek and ye shall find.

Btw... translation is not necessarily interpretation. And, modern translation is not necessarily correct in other disciplines either. So what was your excuse again?

I don't think that was his point, that people shouldn't study it, but rather that it's meaning is so fucked due to time interpretation, no one can really be sure that they've gotten the correct point, and that so many different people come to different point. So the best thing is not to assume you're absolutely right, and rather keep an open mind.

I known Spanish and English, and a Spanish speaking person is never, no matter how much they study is going to comprehend English the way I do, and an English speaking person is never going to understand Spanish I do. You kind of need to have been born into two different languages to understand my point. There are just things that won't translate the same. So imagine the intent of the bible.
