They were able to focus their gifts on one specific talent though which I think is difficult for some manic depressives to do. I find that I'm all over the place more often than not. I love both Bach and Hendrix. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17619725 Bach's music defies explanation. He does things that no one to date has been able to reproduce....His Fugues are mind blowing and he was prolific. I doubt you have a PhD. If by some chance you do, it's not in any field relevant to a discussion of Bach. Because if you DID have the education you claim, you would know how absolutely absurd the rest of your post is. Bach's music does not defy explanation; it invites it, and it never fails to be time well spent. The academic nature of Bach revealed itself in the nature of his music. As a teacher (not only of others but also himself---yes, Bach was self-taught!), his compositions were encyclopedic in scope and nearly always didactic in nature. What he didn't have any clue about was that his music would have become so inspirational AND educational to so many for so long. He was not a musical revolutionary; he was not a pioneer. Instead, he was the summation and culmination of everything that came before him; he simply took what others had already done and did it to the highest level. But there's no mystical, magical voodoo about it. This does not diminish or detract from his greatness in any way...but to say that he did things that nobody else has been able to do it just silly, and reeks of someone discussing a subject they know nothing about. |

Listening to Bach Prelude and Fugue in B flat minor right now. Bach's canons and fuques were riddles. He was a mathmetician. He sent his, unfinished works to others, even kings, to complete for him. I'ts good he's dead because he was not opposed to sex with dogs. "De Omnibus Dubitandum" -Rene Descartes |
