Sometimes he will come through the woods, completely silent, moving in small gains,
looking, standing motionless for 15-20 minutes, waiting for you to make a mistake..
he senses your presence.. but he's not sure.

When he stops, he disappears, blending into the background, obscured by leaves and branches.
If you weren't watching him as he paused.. you wouldn't see him..
unless you could pick out the foreign shape in the background. Sometimes an eyeball, the shape of an ear,
an antler projecting from behind a tree trunk,
the unnatural horizontal of his back..
