The Lion King.

I watched this when i was a child and thought isnt it strange that african lions should have american accents. then i realised even though i was young this is reflective of who has the power in the world. so even though the film wasnt important in itself the lesson i learnt was.

Re: Name one movie, book or experience that changed your world view
The Ten Commandments seen at the movie theatres on the HUGE screen actually impressed me so much that I day-dreamed about going to Egypt.... which I did when I grew up. More than that since the Red Sea split was so impressive and it was like a boiling waterfall going upwards I wanted to see with my own eyes something like that and hence not only I went to the Red Sea but to Iguazu Falls both from Argentina and Brazilian frontier and also to Niagara Falls in the Canadian side. Of course the modern carts in Cairo (there were about 350 at the time) wasn't exactly like driving a chariot like someone from Pharaoh's army but it certainly helped.

Hey SMC - thanks for all good resource links. Any idea where I might be able to find pdf of Osho's Book of Understanding? Or even audio? I love listening to him. If you get a chance check out his Zen Talks by Audio Renaissance.

Osho is someone who seems talks and the utterances are going straight to the heart rather than being filtered by the brain.... I mean if you are sensitive. Whatever you read recorded in the books with HIS words in speeches touches you.

I think that a movie I watched as a kid, shown at school on what to do if a nuclear bomb strikes introduced me to how scary the world was.

Many years later an audio by Thich Nhat Hanh reminded me how beautiful the world can be.

Re: Name one movie, book or experience that changed your world view
In a mystical sense two experiences changed my vision of reality, self-hypnose Silva Mind Control meditation and drinking mushroom tea. Ayahuasca didn't work at all with me for several reasons. In a similar topic I recomend two films ALTERED STATES and bloody mystical Spanish "western" EL TOPO, check the trailers I set here Thread: Please recommend a good film to watch! (Page 4) Regarding books in that sense I suggest shaman Carlos Castañeda, The herb of the Devil and Huxley's classic ones.

Was running a yoga seminar some time back and put on a recording of Osho talking. This flying thing - daddy long legs I think you call it - which head been dive-bombing us all day, sat down right in the sweet spot between the speakers and remained there till the recording finished. Weirded me out, I can tell you.

Adam Sandler's Click.

It opened up my eyes to the reality that the time spent with your family/friends and the shared memories that you create together are really what matters in your very short existence.

This book comes to mind, it is not the first book in the 'series', but the first I read of his. Much of it made sense to me, and helped me understand a few things I was having trouble with at the time.

Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives
by Michael Newton Ph.D.

rereading title of thread, not sure this is type of thing you were looking for..but any way..1dunno1

For me it all started with the band Between the Buried and Me. At the time I was just a kid that listened to hard rock and hints of metal (the heaviest I could stand were bands like Lamb of God). Then one day I discovered BTBAM and my entire world exploded. One minute brutal guitar riffs and loud vocals, the next minute the most beautiful melody I've ever heard with a groove like no other. I was much more close minded until their music entered my world. I always saw things a certain way but after experiencing BTBAM I slowly became more open with everything. Their combinations of literally every genre of music you can think of made me realize that anything is possible, and that the human mind is unstoppable when it doesn't limit itself to predetermined standards.

Re: Name one movie, book or experience that changed your world view
10 years ago...my life was in a complete mess, everything was spiralling out of control, I was addicted to drugs and I was in deep trouble, I was either gong to jail or be 6ft under...I couldnt turn to anyone, neither my friends or family for help...then I literally got on my knees and called out to God to help me, I confessed all my faults to him, and with tears pouring down my face I told Him that I really needed His help or else things were not going to end well for me...I wasnt sure that I was going to get an answer, because years before I had prayed twice before for His help but didnt get the answer or help that I had hoped for (I wasnt a true believer back then)....but this time miracles happened and I instantly felt my burdens lift from my shoulders...my addiction was instantly gone...amazing!..my whole life changed from that point in time...I later attended a church and became a born again Christian...more miracles followed that I couldnt explain but could only attribute them to God's grace and mercy. Jesus is my Lord and Saviour and I am thankful that by His death and resurrection, my sins are forgiven and I will have eternal life. Thank you Lord!!
