Quoting: B 17493445 After watching that, what was left of my religious beliefs went out the window. I almost wish i never saw it. I miss being blissfully ignorant. Then i started coming on this website....ugh...what was i thinking??!! Lol. All this site does is give me anxiety. But ive learned a lot. I saw a clip from that where Bill Maher was attacking the leader of the Natorei Karta sect of Orthodox Judaism for being opposed to Zionism. If anyone is locked into an insane belief system, it is Bill Maher. What an arrogant shill. Anyway, the book that changed my life was Worlds in collision by Immanuel Velikovsky. I was 11 years old when I read it. It made me see the Bible as an important historical document. Till then, I hadn't paid it much attention. Deplorable in a tin foil hat |

Changed my view of nature and goodness in the world. Made me a more real person. 2. The Grateful Dead- Their music and the deadheads showed me a new meaning of love and acceptance. 3. The Art of Happiness- H.H. Dalai Lama allowed me to see myself in a more true way and set me on the path to better understanding the nature of the mind which at times creates our world view. 4. The Kalachakra Tantic system which expanded my world view to include the other levels of perceptional realities. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14899339 United States 06/06/2012 06:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Fear and Loathing was the first thing that popped into my head but there have been quite a few since I'm a searcher of knowledge. I remember one that really stuck with me as a kid, it was when my mom told me that the United States of America was going to war and had been in wars before. She explained that people died in wars and that the invasion of Iraq was a big deal for this country. After that I always sat in class thinking my country murders people, while reciting the pledge of allegiance. Once I'd recited the pledge god knows how many times I began to really wonder if my country was a good place or just had people become obedient sheep and invade other countries. At the time I knew I'd figure it all out when I was older and here I am still in the land of the free! Woooo... Big words but yet we've invaded the place that I lost my faith in my government not once but twice in my life time. Inflicted more harm on their people then I will ever even be able to experience from them and for what??? Recently on the weekends now I'll sing the part in Pink Floyd where he says 'The Show Must Go Onnn!' Because that's all our lives have become a pictogram of insanity lost in a sea of banality. In the words of Perry Ferrell Children are innocent, teenagers fucked up in the head. Adults are even more fucked up and the elderly are like children. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 2765281 United States 06/07/2012 11:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I was disowned by my family after my dad died because all of the relatives got together and decided that because I was "rich", I did not deserve any of my dad's small estate because my brother was "poor". My parents sent my brother to college and he finished with an IT degree 25 years later (in 1996). He lived in my dad's house up until my dad asked him to leave about 1 year prior to my dad's death. My brother still does not have a steady job. He is not married and has no children. There is nothing physically wrong with him, employers just find him unmotivated. I finished college in 4 years, have been married 25 years, and have very nice children. I thought that I had a great relationship with my brother and my extended family up until my father's death, but now I see that I missed many hints along the way. This experience has taught me that for some people, everything is viewed through MONEY goggles. Somehow, some people believe that all poor people are morally superior to those who are paying the bills for their families. I was surprised by this, up until that time, I thought that hard work was respected and laziness disrespected. I learned that people who hold this view are dangerous to me. P.S. I will add that what I really think is going on is that these people don't want to be eventually financially responsible for my brother as they know that probably will be asked to be. Funny thing is that I had always made plans to help my brother, but now too much water has gone under the bridge and that is impossible. |

Debauchery User ID: 15455863 United States 06/07/2012 01:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Book.. Arthur Schopenhauer - The World as Will and Representation. And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it. I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die. |
