IMO You really want a stopper. Something that delivers enough shock to drop the animal 1st shot.

I have a 45 but have it loaded up to 45 super levels and load
240 GR XTP magnum bullets or heavy hard cast bullets.

10mm is better still and 44 magnum or better preferred.

yes you can kill them with a shot just behid the ear but you had better tie them down first which is hardly hunting.

second those single .22 heart kill shots are more than likely from lucky hunters more than just expert.

ive known good huters who have declined a shot with a 303
because it was to close and i have known of others that have shot a boar only to have the projectile explode on the shoulder blade without doing immediate fatal damage.
