Another survival tip: Go medieval. Bows don't make much noise - even crossbows. Swords don't require ammunition, but you better practice a lot and build up muscles and stamina. Remember, too, even an undead zombie can't do much to you without arms and legs...

In regards to the medieval comment I was thinking about horses how about horses do zombies eat horses. You can outrun a Zombie herd easily on a horse and a horse only requires rest, grass and water which can be easily access in certain areas

Horses aren't necessarily a bad idea, but remember they can get spooked and throw you. I'm not sure how they would react to the smell of a zombie from whatever cause; even if it is from a disease (or chemical), animals have a keen sense of smell and may not react well to the scent.

Their top speed leaves a little to be desired, and they tire out. It wouldn't be too difficult to be pulled off the horse if you came across a mob.

Keeping these shortcomings in mind, a horse would otherwise be a great idea. Fuel would eventually run out for vehicles, even though that might not be for a long time. There would be no more parts manufactured, so they could only be repaired so many times. Then there's the matter of tools to repair it, and so on. Also, a vehicle makes a lot more noise than a horse. Any option has its pros and cons, so it's more a matter of personal choice, I'd say.

You would need a home base as well. This is something you would have to give thought to. It would need have a clear line of sight for a good distance. High ground is always an advantage. A clean source of water - natural spring, maybe. An area that could be reinforced in which you could grow fresh food. How self-sufficient would be determined by how long you planned on staying there. An isolated area would be preferred.

I apologize for the tasteless song but it's the only video of this scene from the Walking Dead I could find. It's Atlanta, Georgia:

Lol. On the plus side, as much meat as a horse has, it should give you plenty of time to get away...

Get in good shape, avoid alcohol and cigarettes, consume only very low fat products. Your mind and body will then feel like surviving. Have a small concealed pistol with you when you are out of the house.

I am in good shape, I'm also an avid hiker, mountain biker, I don't smoke cigarettes. Telling someone to consume very low fat products is wrong. Your body needs fats of the good kind and I consume a lot of it too. Salmon, Fish oil, olive oil, avocados, nuts

The fats you mention are fine for young people. I should have qualified my statement. Old folks with heart disease need very low fat, and even they can consume the olive oil, nuts, and avocados in very small amounts.
The average Westerner consumes about 65 pounds of fat/year-- or two tons by age 60. It is that extreme fat consumption that is responsible for most coronary artery disease, IMO. An excellent book entitled "Preventing and Reversing Heart Disease" by C. B. Esselstyn MD shows what can be accomplished with very-low fat diet.
