and btw, that is SO not the same thing.
not a cannibal case OR even zombie-esque.

now not every biting attack should be considered "another" cannibal/zombie attack.

i think certain criteria should be set out from here forth deciding what should even be of SERIOUS concern, as that really freaky ACTUALLY zombie-esque attack.

for one, dude was naked, i think nakedness---that maybe should be one of the criteria....as it seems like a lot of weird naked behavior has been happening, which is a lot stranger than some tweeker looking dude flipping out on his (probably) tweeker friend and attacking him.

the rudy eugene guy seemed very disoriented and i can imagine that if he had lived he would have had no memory of what he had done....and maybe of what even led up to whatever 'came over him'. there have been other cases, like vampire girl attacks wheel chair dude and ends up naked and clueless as to what happened.

so disorientation should definitely be criteria too.

i don't even think that actually eating someone necessarily needs to be part of the criteria, maybe it doesn't get to that point, maybe for some thats not really the extent it takes them due to their own potential for psychosis...or violence.

I agree with some of this, but I'm not sure if it can be easily categorized. If we were talking about a movie, then yeah, it would be easy. For it to be, as you put it "ACTUALLY zombie-esque", then it would require cannibalism itself, not just biting. Nudity would be optional.

The only other case that would REALLY fit would be an incident that happened (yes, you guessed it) in Miami the month before. [link to www.miamiherald.com]

I don't know if he planned on actually eating the guy's flesh; he didn't make it far enough to find out.

i definitely should have used a different term.

i just meant that other people are saying zombies, that rudy guy did seem zombie-esque but maybe whatever he had, or had ingested, just had that effect on him...maybe he had been under the effects longer and so it was more intense at the time he saw Ronald.

but there are many similar cases of disorientation, aggression and nudity....i mean, even the rash of bizarre acting nude people seem more likely related than a typical tweeker fight. even those can get strange or brutal, but dude in this case was already mad about something and was calculated about attacking his friend. he didn't just have some extreme psychotic break and throw any intestines around, did he?

I hope you don't misunderstand me. I agree with you that not all "biting" incidences would fit a "zombie" category. In this particular case, I think you're right.

What caught my interest was that he bit a chunk out of the guy's face. It didn't say he ate it, and he wasn't nude. And it didn't say he kept biting. I just found it unusual. Most of the recent stories about biting don't fit a zombie MO.

Just for the record, I don't define a zombie as being undead. To me, anyone who acts as a mindless cannibal fits the bill, whatever the cause.
