i wonder if this whole idea of santa clause and tooth fairies etc are an agenda to break fundemental trust between parent and child, so that the state may step in with the truth.

I think too much emphasis is placed on the 'lie' and not enough on the 'fun'. Children pretend, and play act all the time. They watch movies, cartoons - aren't these all lies too?

I regret I did, well I didn't tell them he was "real" but I played the Christmas game around it because of pressure from others. By doing so, we do begin to tell our children to believe Myth as reality, and it sets them up along with CHURCH, to believe in fairy tales. your chlidren outgrow santa claus at some point because it becomes obvious, but some kids are hanging onto this well into their TEENS now and its NOT cute. Then they go to church and hang on to the satan claws teachings there. Stop with the Christmas buying season in all ways. It is time to resist the Khazar games.

Of course not. It's a hard experience for the kid if it figures out that mum and dad had lied to it. The kid thought they were honest. Breaks trust to parents dramaticaly...

Don't really use the term Santa Claus, so not really sure how to respond... Father Christmas (woden) is the closest.. but they are not the same person that the media would like us to think

The season of good Cheer starts off by celebrating the Winter Solstice, of which thousands of local children take part and put their wishes on the fire.. and it all ends on twelvie night (17th of Jan) with a howling to encourage evil spirits to bugger off..

So I am not sure what I believe since most of it is rooted in paganism, let alone what I would have the kids believe, but whatever they do believe it is down to each of them to decide their own path.. we as parents are only guides..

Depends on the kid. It never bothered me that they 'lied' to me about santa and the tooth fairy. I didn't tell when I figured it out because I could tell they enjoyed it, too... and it was great fun.

Even after everyone knew that everyone knew, we still had "from santa" gifts and still had stockings.

It continues to support celebrations that truly have no real merit. there are better ways to enjoy and celebrate life and these must be based on truth. Are your Christian? Santa goes with that. For you are helping to contaminate unto the 7th generation. Could you not start something more spiritual unto the 7th generation? We enjoy it. It's a fun thing we do as a family. God doesn't curse people, and especially "not into the 7th generation".

And if the "devil" brings gifts and cares for children, then he's better than your god that curses (contaminates) to the 7th generation.

There are some things that you and I will never see eye to eye on. This 7th generation crap is one.

These traditions are made holy by HUMANS and by our love and our joy and our peace with each other.

This is probably the ONLY good thing I remember from my childhood. It is a sacred tradition for our family. Because you or others attach a bunch of other stuff to it doesn't mean we do.

Not all traditions are automatically evil. It is humans that create sacredness.

For GOD is everywhere and that means sacredness is everywhere and in everything... so long as we humans choose it to be so.

I grew up not believing in Santa Claus. I felt like I may have missed out on something so when my first was born I started a tradition that Santa brings 1 toy and stuffs the stocking. It went well for the first 6 years then I grew very much in my Faith. I always claimed to be Christian but there is always a point in a "Christians" life that it really just hits them. At the time I was pregnant with my middle child. My husband still wanted our kids to have Santa because he did and he enjoyed it. So we kept the tradition alive. I regret it and have answered all the questions honestly from then on out. We still visit Santa sometimes but it is not a priority. The oldest knows the truth the youngest could not care less and the middle one has been inquisitive so I think she knows the truth.

I absolutely hate "santa claus" and wish that I would have followed my parents foot steps.

We celebrate St Nicholas Day on Dec 6th in my house. I found out about it when I was stationed in Germany.

We celebrate it like St Patricks or St Valentines Days insomuch as yes, we do the majority of our holiday gift giving that day, but a fat man is not physically coming down the chimney, and doesn't ride a sleigh pulled by 8 tiny reindeer.

This allows us to celebrate the birth of the Messiah without the commercialism and unbridled greed that has become associated with the American Christmas season.
