Re: Temperature spikes in No. 4 fuel pool after pump burns — Backup also breaks
* At 8:03 PM on June 4, overload trip at the secondary system circulating pump (A) was confirmed by the emergency alarm of the air-fin cooler panel at Unit 4 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system. As a result of site investigation, a burn mark was confirmed near the motor terminal housing, and we reported it to Tomioka fire department (Naraha branch station) at 9:27 PM. Later we accepted the judgment that it was not a fire. As for Unit 4 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system, the secondary system circulating pump (B) was started up at 8:27 PM on the same day, there was no significant change in the pool water temperature. There was no problem with the cooling condition.
At 10:30 AM on June 5, the secondary system circulating pump (B) at Unit 4 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system was temporarily suspended in order to confirm the condition. There is no problem with the pool water temperature control as the temperature increase rate is estimated to be approx. 0.3℃/h. The condition of the secondary system circulating pump (A) and (B) at Unit 1 spent fuel pool alternative cooling system which have a similar structure will be confirmed.

I know only what they released via their own Page,
according to them the Problem is fixed.

Many People here think that the Fuel Pool start to boil
as soon as the cooling is off but this is wrong,
the Pool can be without cooling for 4-5 Days,
in the case the Pumps cant work anymore they could
use "the Putzmeister" again, this is the Truck with
the huge Concrete Pump they used in the first Weeks.

TEPCO's only concern is salvaging the MOX fuel rods that they paid millions for. They are merely trying to save some of their investment at some point to move them to other reactors.

They don't care about the environment or the radiation pollution, this is why their concern is all about No.4.
They have written off the other 3 and will deal with them in 4-5 years when they cool a bit. This catastrophe will pollute the planet for 40 years until they can invent a solution for clean up. After that, it legacy will be felt for another 10,000 years.

This bullshit disaster has been going on for well over a year. I cannot believe the world governments have not stepped in. Why? It seems more and more like TPTB are going to let this run its course and just let what happens, happen. Everyday I think of calling lawyers and see if any of them want to start testing the environment and once we find radiation directly from fukushima, we sue the fuck out of TEPCO. Go class action, and bend them over. Are there any attorneys out there with the balls, and the need for more money, that wants to be groundbreaking? Suing TEPCO would be international news, and through discovery we can find a shitload of proof of what really is happening.

It would take a "team" of hungry lawyers to take on this project. The reason its not happening is that TPTB will muzzle/disbar/silence them before they even get started.

Human Exposure
The United States Department of State has stated that, "for travelers returning from Japan there is a chance of exposure to low levels of radiation from the fallout associated with the releases from damaged nuclear reactors." While this is unlikely, there are no symptoms associated with exposure to low levels of radioactivity. Fortunately, a simple analysis of a person's urine will provide the best assurance that the body has not been impacted from radiological contamination.

GEL Laboratories, LLC is accredited by the United States Department of Energy for the accurate and proper identification of radioactivity in the human body. GEL is the only commercial analytical laboratory in the United States both accredited by DOE and regulated through the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) to perform laboratory testing on humans in the U.S.

The testing of an individual exposed to radioactivity, either by inhalation or ingestion, is done by collecting urine excreted over a 24-hour period. GEL will provide a test kit for each individual to assist in the urine collection process. Once collected and shipped overnight to our laboratory, the urine will be analyzed for the emission of gamma-rays indicative of nuclear power related radioactivity. If radiation is detected, a qualified physician and/or radiation specialist should be consulted to determine further treatment.

Food and non-Food Exposure
The same protection can be provided for any material that is exported from or used in Japan for the food industry. The sample can be collected and shipped overnight to our laboratory, where it will be analyzed for the emission of gamma-rays . GEL is uniquely qualified for the identification of low-levels of radioactivity in all types of foods (dairy products, grains, fruits and vegetables, and meat) and all non-food items. GEL is audited by the United States Department of Energy to ensure accuracy and precision in all environmental material.

If you would like to receive a quotation for this analysis, please go to:

If questions remain, please contact Mr. Stan Morton, Manager of Radiobioassay Programs at GEL, at 303.349.8345.

This is good as far as it goes, but won't catch a hot particle inhaled and lodged in a lung. A gamma scan of the body MIGHT, or might not indicate an anomaly. Regardless, if a hot particle exists, there's not too much that can be done about it.

Tweet (Later removed by Tanioka)

They checked the back up circulation (B) just in case, then they found the weakness of insulation between the motor and cable as well. They could see the metal part through the insulation part. For the risk of short circuit, they stopped (B) to fix as well. They estimate 3 days to fix.

Tweet at 2:46 AM – 6 Jun 12

The coolant system of reactor 4 is stopped at this moment. The temperature of water is 35ºC. They assume it increases by 0.3ºC hourly. It will be about 57ºC in 3 days. The safety regulation is 65ºC. NISA explains, it’s simple work, it won’t take longer than 3 days.

Tweet at 2:51 AM – 6 Jun 12

NISA explained the reason of these troubles is because the coolant system is improvised preparation. They plan to replace them with better preparation. For the question that reactor 1 ~3 have the same risk. they did not deny the possibility. This is something to concern. I will keep my eyes on it.

I thought the neutron beams were blue? There were some video recording of them at night from one of teh reactors (#2?) within a few months after the disaster last year suggesting a re-criticality, if that is a white beam being emitted from the reactor, not a work light, I have no idea what but not good. As for the idea of giving up and pretending it will go away, that is stupid. Maybe we need a darwin moment every so often to thin out the stupid people? You survive is what you do, as best you can, as long as you can, try every supplement and suggestion, change your diet and your habits, most importantly don't trust those who are lying to us and endangering our lives.

hi waterbug could you tell me what we are actually seeing in the picture you posted taken at night through tepcos pointscope, what is that blue? is it neutrons?, like what were seen at chernobyl "the rainbow of colours" when the top came off the reactor?. or is it heat?.
 Quoting: Rifster

Cherenkov effect.

[link to www.google.com]

The shape of the cherenkov and it's relative position led us to believe there were continuing criticalities in fuel pools. Turns out it was three reactors and ?fuel pools. We couldn't tell from the view.

The cooling stopped. The water turned to steam. The meltdowns happened. Covering that mess back up with seawater caused the cherenkov.

Tepco and the associated agencies and gov'ts said nil about this for three months.

It was reactor 3 and SFP3 that we were seeing I believe.

^^^THIS^^^ is closest to any truth of what TEPCO/ge is up to.
Like the Exxon Valdez "cleanup" and BP "cleanup" while old damages remain and new ones created (BP) plan to outlive "complainants" and they do, while the whole world is their toilet (unflushed just get a more toilets).

Greg Palast has done a lot exposing all of them most recently TEPCO saying their "backup" wouldn't have worked on a clear calm sunny day in June. It was never operational as a safety feature.
