Re: Merkel may Punish Greece Hard as an Example for Others
Well that won't backfire much.. talk about ensuring people support Greece..

When I saw Merkel and Cameron throw their voices of support behind Sarkozy it felt like a death nail, since whatever they do it seems the people go and do the opposite, which I am sure is what they wanted.

personally don't trust them either way.. they play far too many games within games within games for my head to keep track of..

I wonder if it gives them as big a headache as it gives me..

Merkel on Greece: loans & bailouts equivalent of 1.5 times their GDP. Far bigger than Marshall Plan to Europe from US.

[link to twitter.com]

Merkel: problem in Greece is not lack of solidarity from us. It's Greeks not believing in their state and not paying taxes.

Merkel says Europe aid for Greece amount to about 150% of GDP. In other words: LTV is 150%

Germany has sent goods worth 700 billion to the PIIGS and all it got is a "positive Target 2 quota"

700 billion that germans had to work for to actually create products and goods while the PIIGS just loaned it from the ECB and now are UNWILLING to pay for their debts.

They will not accept losing 700 billion and can not afford it.

This is without the money germany gave for rescues.

classic sheep. just reads "punish" and says "oh the evil merkel".

what do you expect? after billions and billions were misused in greece you expect her to say "here you got some more billions and you can do what you want with it."?

If the greek government gets away with this other countries will follow. they will think "whatever....why would i care about our country going bankrupt. The Eu idiots will pay for the bailout."

Greece has 10 million people. EU population is 500 million.

Thats 98% of the eu paying for these 2%.

what do you think will happen when we have to bail out a country like spain (50 million people) or Italy (60 million).

The eurozone transfer mechanism is the same.

Did they really? I thought almost nobody got a popular vote on that. Ireland did because they had a constitutional provision requiring it -- and the first time round they said no. (So it was rammed at them again until they said yes.)

Let me guess.

The Telegraph reports that there are more Porsche Cayenne's in Greece than taxpayers declaring over 50k Euros income.

One modest agricultural town, Larisa, with a population of 250k has the worlds greatest density of Porsche owners.
