I'm sort of a Pagan who understands what Apollonius/Paul/Jesus along with Vespasian and his son Titus were really trying to do. He and the Roman empire were creating a Pax Romana, uniting religion, politics, economics creating a nation of peace. He ended animal sacrifice and established a religion that included all the most popular gods. Hesus, Krishna, the Jewish Yeshu Ben Pantera Stada. You might call me a "Gnostic Pagan" a follower of Apollonius of Tyana a pure form of Paul Christianity that united Western Europe's many chaotic religions into one powerful religion. I can still hear their chant and can't help but be caught up in it again. "One God, One Land, One King!" "Convert or die!"

Emperor of the Rome usually spent most of his day in coliseum watching bloody massacres and it is not surprising that the other part of the day was spent by organizing the ones. If there was ever empire that did not invent anything, it was Rome. They did invent unique jurisprudence and philosophy however. Laws that prevented killing eachother off.
Rome for the most part was built on conquered gold and for the biggest part it was Dacian (Sarmatian) gold. Former inhabitants of this land were literally exterminated and gold plundered. All things come to an end and this gold ran out. There were no prospects of easy gold, conquest was out of the question. Rome with its way of life became hell on earth. Everyone turned their eyes at the slave religion of the time. It seemed to be panacea for problems Rome was facing. It wasn't about peace and unity or other modern terms, Rome was one big empire and hardly at any huge war. It was about another way of life as Rome was collapsing from inside.
It did not end there. If you will look for Sarmatia or Scythia in Secret Vatican library, most likely you'll become persona nongrata as it is the secret even today (society that does not need a government or forming and dissolving it when needed and not needed?). chuckle
