I'm English living in Ireland the past 12 years and am guessing you're about 12 years old knowing nothing of the English/Irish history. If you can read then perhaps you could enlighten yourself with how wonderful us English have been over the centuries - NOT!

I lived in Ireland during the mid-70s & the 80s decade to find it very strange. They followed the English & Scottish top teams & their players, but 'despised' when England played 'anyone!' chanting hatred to England & good luck to whatever team England played. If an English team were doing well at the Euro games, they'd be all for the English team. Being both English & Irish I supported both England & Ireland, tho' was torn when they played each other, usually went for England in the end.
But, had this argument in the pub during the World Cup '90, where I even got Irish lads on my side in the end on an argument. I pointed out to these staunch brit-hating lot.. that most of the Irish team were Brits who played for British clubs & who wouldn't have got anywhere without Britain in the first place. That pissed them off.. but they couldn't argue with it.. cos I was right. I asked why they wouldn't support England & they admitted it was northern Irish politics.. so I said.. well.. just leave politics out of Sport then. Sorted.
