Putting a specific date on when the world will end is futile. The only certainty is that it will end at some point, but probably not for billions of years. The current state of affairs for our civilization, however, is destined for collapse. Again, stating when it will happen is a fools game.

Our world is like a bridge that is in disrepair. There are cracks in the concrete and each car that drives over it nudges it closer to completely collapsing. Even the most educated engineer cannot say the exact hour the bridge will fall down, only that it is inevitable without repairs.

So it is with our planet. Reliance on non-renewable sources of energy that keep getting burned faster and faster due to a rising middle class in once poorer countries. Unsustainable use of water, especially fossil water aquifers. The endless destruction of ecosystems that are far older than our civilization that will take thousands of years to heal. These are the cracks in the concrete. Our collapse in inevitable.

There are more, it seems that 2012 is a timeline link anniversary to alot of events that have happened in the past.... 1912, 1922, 1932, 1942, 1952, 1962.....etc.

I'm not a shill, I just know my history. There have been several times in our history when life was almost completely wiped out. They were microbes, the earliest forms of life. But life evolved and found a way not only to return to its previous numbers, but to explode into new forms of complexity. Even the human race was reduced to a very slim level at one point in the deep past, but we recovered. Look it up. So long as liquid water remains on this planet, there will always be life. Not in the form that one might think is significant, but it is still life. Earth abides and I find that beautiful.

The signs of social collapse are all around you. Never in my life did I hear of over sixty people being decapitated in mexico by drug cartels and their bodies dumped into the street, or flash mobs of 20 people attacking one victim, or the city of Detroit shutting of half of its lights. I agree that something has to 'give'. I think Europe needs a war to stimulate their collective economies. Problem is, it's not as simple as it used to be when you could start a war, create demand for industry, travel, fuel, spare parts, etc. Everything in this wonderful new "world economy" makes it really hard to pick sides and decide which side of the nose you'll cut off to spite your face.
